Chattanooga’s City Center is the lively commercial heart of Downtown Chattanooga, featuring some of the city’s best local restaurants, bars, and attractions. A blend of upscale and lofted apartments are spread throughout this urban neighborhood, and the best part is that housing is affordable in City Center! Chattanooga offers very affordable rentals, which is a major perk of living within downtown.
The Tennessee River surrounds City Center and its neighboring communities, so riverfront views and recreation are always at your fingertips. After you’ve found your unique apartment in City Center, grab a drink at the Honest Pint after you’ve caught a live performance at Tivoli Theatre! From the Chattanooga Ghost Tours to the Creative Discovery Museum, there’s always something fun to do in City Center. Chattanooga’s Riverfront neighborhood sits directly north of City Center, offering residents easy access to the Tennessee Aquarium, Ross’s Landing, and the Hunter Museum of American Art.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Located in the heart of downtown Chattanooga, The Maclellan is surely THE place to call home. It’s so convenient for quick commuting to work. The structure it’s self is the perfect combination of historic and modern. The views overlook our beautiful city and all the numerous restraints, nite life and parks that are just minutes away. The property manager, Amy, is amazing! She is always friendly, extremely accommodating, and takes pride in her work. The maintenance man, Will, is a true asset to this community as well. He handles all concerns quick and efficiently.
I moved into the Maclellan a little over 1 month ago and I LOVE it here! The staff has been more than accommodating with anything I have requested. My move in time was outside the office hours due to a flight change and the staff made an accommodation by making themselves available and allowing me to move in after hours. Talk about excellent customer service! I was a little concerned about the overall existing elements in the Historic building in regards to sound control, etc, however I have been surprised. The sound control is actually better in this 100 year old building than in my previous brand new complexes. I love the combination of the historic features mixed with the modern upgrades! The original hardwood floors and 11 foot ceilings set this apartment apart from any other apartment in the city. I may be an old soul, but I would take the Historic charm of the Maclellan any day over a new construction cookie cutter building. If you are looking for a bit of history with modern flare The Maclellan is just the place for you!

Thank you for the glowing review! We're so pleased to know we've done our jobs well, and that you are enjoying your home.
I chose the Maclellan because it was 1. available now, 2. withing walking distance to work, 3. seemed like a reasonable price. I got a studio on the 4th floor. I only lived there for 3 months (temp work assignment was cut short; had to "break" lease and move out early). The kitchen and bath were brand new and modern. But nothing else was in good condition. The 100 year old windows 1. didn't all lock because they 2. didn't all shut properly, and 3. they are paper thin glass. I could hear EVERYTHING that happened outside all day and all night. Literally everything. From the city leaf blowers standing right outside my window for 30 minutes at midnight once a week, to loud cars, loud music. constant arguments in the street,..even the clip clopping of the horses pulling carriages around, I could hear it all so clearly. And when street noise wasn't a problem, the exposed water and HVAC pipes in the ceiling were. EVERY time someone above me ran water, flushed the toilet, ran the dishwasher, etc I knew, because a river would rush through the pipes overhead, so that noise woke me up all night too. As well as the noise from the door-to-door garbage collection that would come around 11pm and be banging cans around in the hallway. And BTW, that service is NOT included in your rent price. It's $25/month and it's not optional. And the exposed HVAC pipes must have been leaking exhaust fumes or something into my apartment every day that smelled like skunk! And as mentioned earlier, I had to "break" my lease when my temp work assignment was cut shorter than anticipated. They don't really have an option to "break" a lease; I had to continue paying for everything until either someone else moved in, or my lease ran out. And even after someone did move in, I was STILL charged an additional months rent as a penalty. Oh, and when I had the final walkthrough, some water came rushing through the pipes and the property manager asked me if that was normal. She said "some apartments are louder than others. That's pretty bad. I'll get maintenance to look into that." So.....you know that it's a possibly fixable problem, but you didn't care enough to fix it before I moved in. Thanks.
