Located on the Pajarito Plateau, on the eastern edge of the Jemez Mountains, Los Alamos is a small mountain town with a rich history. In fact, Los Alamos is best known as the home of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where a group of physicists constructed the world’s first atomic bomb during World War II.

Situated in northern New Mexico, Los Alamos is about a 45-minute drive from Santa Fe. Los Alamos is within 45 miles of eight Indian Pueblos as well.
