I liked my little apartment. I loved living on the lake in the back where it was quiet and a lot of wild life. The fenced in patios are a very nice feature. The rent is affordable and they allow pets.

Maintenance issues are not addressed. Rental office has not responded after 8 phone messages, 4 emails and a certified letter!
Save your money. I applied for an 1 bedroom apartment and was scheduled to move in on a certain date, of which I prepared for and saved for. They pushed the move in date back twice, before telling me the apartment was unavailable, offering me a studio instead with no discounted rent. At this point I had been in a motel for half a month waiting for the apartment to be move in ready. I asked for my refund check instead, and told them once when they asked me, again through an email, and a third time where to send the check to. It took three times. I’m still waiting on it if you’re curious, part of me is doubting it’s existence. The people at The Boardwalk at Westlake have proven incapable of doing their job effectively and make my life far more difficult in the meantime. Please, don’t even try this place.
DO NOT MOVE HERE!! I initially moved here because of the price but it is not worth it. The grounds are falling apart (fence at the front of the building is literally falling down). There hasn't been a single thing that I have liked about my experience living here. There is constantly trash everywhere in the grounds and it takes days for it to be cleaned up. The bathtub is constantly clogged. The shower leaks water and I am told that it can't be fixed because they are old pipes. The community laundry facilities are never cleaned and when I did use them the lady who was there told me that it wasn't safe to wash once it was dark and that clothes were always being stolen. There is supposed to be security at the front entrance because of past incidents of rape and shootings but they are hardly ever paying attention or just have friends in there hanging out. If you can avoid this complex do so! It's better to spend the extra money and go to another apartment complex. Their emergency maintenance is worthless! AC has been out for 24 hours and I have made multiple calls to emergency maintenance and have not gotten a response.
I really like living here. The employees are very professional and helpful. I love my apartment. Nice and clean. Close to all amenities that I use. The dumpsters are emptied frequently. Parking is close and always available. Quiet neighbors. The grounds are kept up nicely.
I have lived her for almost 2 years now. I will be moving this year,as my stay has worn out. First off, the appliances are way outdated. My kitchen looks like a set in a movie from the 1970's. The air-conditioning/furnace is so loud that I cannot hear to talk on the phone and I have to turn the volume to the TV and radio up and down when it turns on and off. The bug issue has never went away. spiders and pill bugs everywhere. I blame all the water from the swamp ponds for them. The geese and ducks swamp the place and leave droppings everywhere and block traffic when they cross the roads. The first year I lived here was pretty quiet. Second year got bad. The neighbors upstairs sound like a heard of elephants and the noise outside has increased drastically. waking me up throughout the night. I'm feeling less and less safe in the area and while they have placed guards in the shack in the main entrance there is inconsistency as to when the other to exits gates are open or closed. Hit and miss on nice staff. One lady who works in the office is nice. The rest act like they hate everyone. In a year and a half I have had 15 maintenance issues. Three of them in emergency call (2 of them the water would not shut off in the bathroom the other Garbage disposal threw up Water and food and other stuff). The only good thing is the price. To sum this all up, you get what you pay for.
Overall I give Westlake a 3/5 star rating. I love the location of my apartment and I love the price of rent. It's very adorable and I have a spacious two bedroom apartment. However, they should definitely update the apartments. The appliances are outdated and halfway work I've put in several work orders to maintenance in regards to my stove. Also in the winter there are bad ant outbreaks in the kitchen and bathroom so make sure you have them spray ( they are good at fixing the ant problem ). The entry ways to get to the apartments are scary they need more lighting and the stairs should definitely be remodeled! I never let my two year old walk up or down the steps because I'm scared she will fall through them! My area of the apartments is really quiet for the most part. Of course there are kids playing after school, but not too loud. Never heard any gun shots or violence occurring in the neighborhood so that's definitely something to consider now a days in Indianapolis! Oh and they gave me brand new carpet when I moved in. :) Hope this helps someone.
Not a bad starter apartment. Decent community and maintenance is very helpful. Also its nice on your wallet.
