A distinct Pittsburgh landmark, constructed in 1921 in the midst of the downtown skyline and the Monongahela River, Terminal 21 originated as a focal point where produce and livestock met rail and industrial industries. The decades have seen this freight terminal and warehouse shift in focus to residential living, and its industrial form has long resonated with visitors and residents. Originally put to a different, industrial use, but now re-purposed to meet the current needs of a constantly evolving city, Terminal 21 fits with Pittsburgh's culture of reinvention. Industry was once the heart that drove the energy of the city. Now, the emerging technological economy means room for growth within the community and for the professionals who live in it. With a comfortable modern feel inspired by the site's local heritage and history, Terminal 21 allows you to make the most of urban living. Centrally located, and primed for easy access to attractions and events throughout the city, Terminal 21 is still the center of a vibrant community and a welcoming stop on life's journey.

At the point where the Monongahela River and the Allegheny River meet to form the Ohio River rests downtown Pittsburgh, the heartbeat of the city. The terrain, consisting of rivers, steep hills, and a distinct combination of numerous bridges make this a naturally scenic city. Downtown Pittsburgh is a lively area filled with shops, restaurants, museums, and theaters. It is also home to Point Park University and Point State Park, a National Historic Landmark as the location of Fort Duquesne, the Fort Pitt Museum, and the Fort Pitt Blockhouse (built in 1764).
The unique design of downtown Pittsburgh offers residents pocket-like neighborhoods that display its architectural heritage and steel city legacy. A variety of dining and entertainment options line the streets below mid to high rise offices and residential towers. No matter what time of the day or night, you can find something to do in this friendly sports-oriented city.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Terminal 21
I just toured the property and from what I experienced the building takes full advantage of its industrial roots and gives off the vibe of a very cool artistic type of atmosphere. The apartments felt just like the urban style lofts they are advertised as (with big windows and lots of light) and all of the community spaces perfectly compliment everything I just described for what I expect will create an overall cool and energetic place to call home. And while I can admit that I am not a fan of the AI answering service you have to get past when calling, once you do reach the actual staff they are super helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and quick to answer any questions and concerns. Lastly, the location is fantastic. With easy access to multiple highways, you can easily get to any side of the city easily avoiding traffic, yet you’re still just a couple of blocks walk away from everything. In my opinion, Terminal 21 seems like a really great deal for the price and I really look forward to taking on the spirit of the city from that vantage point.

I have never lived in a worse apartment complex. To start, the leasing office was misleading when I viewed the apartments and showed me one that ended up being completely different than the one I ended up renting, even though they said it would be the same. They market having the game and TV room and "speakeasy" but the entire time I lived there, the bowling was broken, ski ball was missing all the balls, there were no ping pong supplies, and the TVs did not work. The staff was always extremely rude and unhelpful when it came to any requests or even just a friendly greeting. Towards the end of my lease, my entire side of the complex on my floor flooded in the middle of the night. There was ZERO communication from the building to the tenants who were affected by this. My apartment was taken over by giant fans and was over 80 degrees. There was also open dry wall and the carpet was completely torn out - of course this had to happen to dry it out. My apartment was unlivable for weeks, but they did nothing to accomodate or acknowledge the damage that was done. All they did was staple down the same carpet that was destroyed and didn't offer to have it cleaned or anything. They have no regard for their tenants. It was absolutely miserable. Not to mention the week the whole building went without hot water, the days during the winter when the heat didnt work, etc. I have never experienced more issues and I have lived in many downtown apartments. I think they need to stick with being an "air bnb" for people since they don't care for the ones who actually pay to live there. Insanely overpriced for what you get and good luck dealing with the "management" and leasing people.

Hi Mik, we’re truly sorry to hear about the experience you had. From broken amenities to unresponsive management, and lack of communication during crises like flooding, it’s clear that you faced far more challenges than any tenant should have to endure. We understand your frustration and it’s clear that major changes are necessary to improve tenant relations, communication, and overall living conditions. Thank you for sharing your honest feedback.
I cannot recommend Terminal 21 for the following reasons: First of all, they will nickel and dime you. Last week, they reprogrammed the apartment locks so that it now locks on its own. Meaning, even if you want to go back inside to grab the key card or take out the trash a few feet away, you're out of luck. You have to get maintenance to simply waive their card in front of the lock, for which the leasing office will bill you $100. Parking is not included in the rent. You have to park across the street in a publicly accessible parking garage for which you pay $167 a month. They say the building has 5 parking spots for residents available that are attached to the building and will tell you that one "might" soon become available. Don't believe them. Washer and dryer are not in the unit and you will have to do your laundry in a shared laundry room with very small washers that don't clean well and are often occupied. They say the laundry app tells you which ones are available but it only tells you when your wash cycle is done. There are always quite a number of homeless people on the street right next to the building and jail is only 1 block away. It's not safe to walk around outside or even walking to your car. You are not allowed to bring groceries through the main entrance and have to unload them at the maintenance entrance in the back alley where I've seen drug deals happen. The package room is a mess. No system or notification if something was delivered. So you have to regularly go through all the packages that are all over the place to make sure you didn't miss anything. Walls are paper thin and you'll hear neighbors at 3am, as well as the train, which operates until late at night and then again at 5am. The windows do not open, so forget fresh air. If you cook, your apartment will smell like it for days. The A/C is set to heat for a number of months and only set to cool during summer time. During those months in between where one week might be cold and the next hot, you can't just switch from heat to cool or vice versa.

I was treated great at first. found it odd you could never reach anyone...I was told my co- signer was denied...a month later I get an email saying I owe them over a 1000 dollars for an apartment I never leased or even had access to, I never even got keys. I've tried calling repeatedly, just getting no answer and no way to leave a VM...total BS!!!

Prior to this property being acquired by Aion management, it was a great place to live. The new management has minimal concern for residents. Don’t expect timely responses to inquiries or satisfying resolutions to any maintenance issues.
