Amarillo welcomes residents with its distinctive Texas character and sweeping views of the Texas Panhandle. Home to over 200,000 residents, the city offers rental options from downtown lofts to suburban apartments with plenty of space. The San Jacinto neighborhood draws renters with its historic architecture and local shops. Rental costs remain moderate, with average rents around $841, and one-bedroom apartments averaging $830 monthly, representing a 1.5% year-over-year increase.
The Route 66 Historic District and Amarillo Cultural District anchor the city's arts scene, featuring performances at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts and exhibitions at the Amarillo Museum of Art. Just outside the city, Palo Duro Canyon State Park - the second-largest canyon system in the United States - offers miles of hiking and biking trails. The medical district, centered around the Harrington Regional Medical Center, serves the community's healthcare needs.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Summit Park
Long time resident. The past 2-3 years the neglect of the property has become apparent. Busted light covers in the elevators, water damaged ceiling tiles in the lobby, unkept walls in the hallways, graffiti wiped off the back doors instead of cleaning the entire door, laundry room dryers that have been out of order for months- renter beware!
The buildings are a little old but the staff is excellent and any maintenance issues are taken care of within two days. Pat in the office is the nicest lady you will ever meet. Apartment are very safe because of indoor entrance to apartment and locked doors that require card keys. The street can be loud sometimes because of nearby fire station. But the location is great, 15 minutes from downtown and not on the highway but a 5 minute drive to either 40 or 27. Amarillo High School is very close and the best school district in the area. This is a very quiet apartment complex with a bunch of really sweet old ladies (and a few cranky ones.)
