The downtown heart of Escondido, Central Escondido, is an artistic blend of historic and new. It’s the location of the city’s oldest park, Grape Day Park, and the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. The brick-paved sidewalks that line Grand Avenue run past a variety of boutiques, gift shops, and bakeries. Maple Street Plaza, located off Grand Avenue, is an esplanade that hosts events. Other great destinations in Central Escondido include the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum and the Escondido History Center, which features a historic Victorian farmhouse complete with weathervane.
Central Escondido extends from Centre City Parkway east to North Juniper Street. You’ll discover ample apartment communities in the neighborhood, along with several bus stops for car-free commutes. The Escondido Transit Center includes the Sprinter light rail as well as bus service for those traveling to nearby cities, including Oceanside, Encinitas, and Carlsbad.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Summit Apartments
i been living here in the summit for 3 years now and since my new upstairs neighbor moved in this year it was the worst horrible experienced you could have imagined i been complaining them this whole year for playing very loud music at midnight hours up to early am and seems like management care less and had no action at all we had to resort to sleep in our living room for most of the year having my infant baby experienced this every night constant loud rock music and stomping is literally hell there is no peace/quiet enjoyment time here I would never recommend this place to anyone and i will try my best to get my voice heard everywhere just to get back from the sleep deprivation they dealt to my family I would rate this 0 star if I can
I lived at the Summit for one year (2018) and had an excellent experience, which is why it pains me to give them such a low rating. Let me explain. When my wife and I moved out, we were told by the manager that all our utilities would be paid for out of our security deposit, and that we would receive a check once those utilities were paid for. When we received the check about a week later, we thought these utilities had been paid. One year later we receive a phone call and letter that we still owe $60 in utilities. The agent I spoke to admitted it was their "mistake". The agent also explained that the manager left around the time that my wife and I left, and there was confusion by the new manager. In spite of this admission, and in spite of the fact it's been 12 months for them to correct their "mistake", they still want the $60. I think The Summit should admit they made a mistake (which the agent already did) and pay the bill themselves.
Pros: low rent, large in home washers and dryers, and available garages (not if you have anything bigger than a medium sized car though, you can get in to the garage but you cant open your door-just a heads up) for 100$ a month and the office staff is SUPER nice. All laminate apartments with a separate area for laundry and a large closet (1 bedroom) is really great, and people keep to themselves for the most part. Overall the apartment is fine and it's close to a lot of stores which is nice. Cons: Roaches upon move in that we bought our own spray for and we still have to keep all drains plugged when not in use. Toilet broke the first day and we fixed it since it was after office hours. Sink clogged the first weekend and they wouldn't come in on a weekend (which i get but it was not draining at all) so we had to fix that too. Conveniently located near a Home Depot and Lowes by the way. They're always talking about how the maintenance is on leave or they have large work loads. Gym hours changed shortly after move in (which was one of the reasons we chose this apartment, 6am-10pm changes to office hours of 8- 5 or 6), a heads up that that was in the works would have been nice. I have offered to pay a deposit for a key but there is no willingness to work with us, so now i have to pay for a gym membership. If you don't mind the effort of fixing your own stuff on a weekend and you don't care about gym hours then its a nice quiet place to live.
It Is to my great sadness that I had to move for the second time out of San Diego due to a work change. Both times I have had the privilege to reside at The Summit Apartments. I will miss the Manager Robin, Abe, and the rest of their staff very much. They have always been gracious and polite people. They have always taken care of any needs I had with professionalism. You will not be disappointed with the staff or the beautiful apartments and grounds. The Summit Apartments would be my only choice if I ever returned. Good bye my friends :(
