Apartment Reviews at Summer View Apartment Homes
Good so far
I moved in here about 2 months ago and I thoroughly enjoy the place. It’s nice and clean, everyone is friendly, and I feel safe. The only thing that sucks is the parking—the lot is usually full by 7:30. The upside of that is I never feel the need to go on late night fast food runs anymore for fear of losing my parking spot haha. The apartments are small, the size of a medium bedroom. For the price I don’t see why people complain so much, you get what you pay for! And it’s not even that bad! I have seen a few roaches now and then. Thankfully, they don’t run rampant, but it still freaks me out when I see one in my room. There is asbestos in the building, however almost every building with popcorn ceilings has asbestos. It’s harmless if you don’t disturb it, so don’t mess with to ceiling and you’ll be fine. I’m not sure if I just got lucky and my area is quiet, but from my experience, this is a very quiet complex which is so nice! Over all, this is a great starter apartment and I’m looking forward to my year here at summer view.
My First Solo Adventure
"Summer View Apartments." It has a nice ring to it, I think to myself as I load up the car that will take me from Arizona to California, the place of dreams, and my first time living on my own. My first solo adventure. When I arrive, I am greeted by Fabiola and Magaly, who instantly make me feel welcomed and at home--not an easy feat considering there are no cacti around. My little studio apartment, my sanctuary for at least the next 12 months, is halfway down a homey hallway on the first floor (we pass a pool and a perfect onsite laundry facility on our way). Inside my place: a mini fridge, AC unit, plenty of cabinets for storage, as well as a stovetop and oven! The closet is a relief--not nearly as small as I thought it would be. And the biggest fear of all turns into my favorite aspect: the shower. Clean, great water pressure, a ledge for all my washing needs, and not cramped at all. The studio is small but cute, and fits everything I need, including my electric piano (which I wouldn't survive without). It is perfect in every way but one: my loud neighbor. But! I quickly discover that the hum and blowing of the AC drowns him out, which leaves me to read/watch Netflix/play piano/write/ambitiously plan for the future in peace. I have big plans, and a year without rent? I would tackle them!!
studio very small
Im content with it being my first place but can't wait to move....the parking lot gets filled at around 9 so come in early. You only get 1 sink to wash your dishes and brush your teeth. The studio is small but cute,,
my first apartment
For my first apartment I didn't want something lavish that I couldn't afford but I also didn't want something that looked gross. This place was - I thought - a happy medium. Every time it rains my roof leaks, no matter how much I clean, every couple of months I see a roach...the parking lot gets filled at around 11 so come in early. Water pressures good. You only get 1 sink to wash your dishes and brush your teeth. Building maintenance takes weeks - months to fix a problem. Im content with it being my first place but can't wait to move
Asbestos is the only flaw...
This building is full of asbestos, and you are notified of that only when you are signing the lease or if you happened to spot some signage that's not in the most visible places. I thought that was a little unfair, so I'm giving a heads up here. Apparently, well-maintained asbestos control measures should drastically reduce the chance that asbestos will cause health problems. However, the maintenance in this building is spotty. Another tenant told me they've had a leak in their ceiling (where the asbestos is)for a while. When it rains, it leaks through thier smoke detector. Management's solution? Remove the smoke detector. Without replacing it. And damaging the ceiling while doing it. Nothing was done to the roof to fix the leak source as far as they know. What removing the smoke detector was supposed to fix? Who knows. They've asked for the ceiling and roof to be repaired twice and it hasn't been. Nor do they have a working smoke detector yet. Also, if you're a car owner, PAY ATTENTION: the parking lot is a gamble each night. There are more cars than spaces. Usually every spot is taken by ten pm. After that, you have to park on the street. Street parking is scarce in LA. So be prepared to be home by around ten pm each night or park blocks away from your home. If you're young and single and broke, these verrry tiny, one room apartments are great. I really actually like this place but I just wanted to let potential tenants know some things that'll make you think twice. It's right on a major street so you hear a lot of sirens and loud mufflers but hey, you're also close to highways and right on several bus lines. They do have a security guard on duty all night too, so you feel at least a little secure all the time. Also, the other tenants are nice and quiet. I feel safe here and undisturbed. I've accidentally left my car window down overnight a few times and you don't have to worry about anyone bothering or trying to take your stuff. The neighborhood is mostly Latino, working class, and generally safe. There's markets and stores within walking distance. Also, the rent is dirt cheap for LA. Just some things to think about. I hope this was helpful!
The property manager is horrible. She is never consistently at work. They no longer employ security. The parking is a nightmare. You often have to walk from a mile away to find parking after 7 p.m. when there are lots of cars that don't belong there!
Dangerous crime ridden neighborhood , no parking, water and gas turned off constantly, tons of roaches, dangerous electrical problems. Lots of noise from many sources. You'll wish you had never moved here. I am looking to leave soon. Just horrible. Terrible management company
Unsanitary/ WORST APPARTMENT BUILDING
THIS PLACE IS FILLED WITH COCKAROCHES AND THE MANAGEMENT TEAM DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO FIX THE BUILDINGS CLEANLINESS!!! I have so many pictures and my attorneys are in the works for a lawsuit!!! DO NOT RENT HERE. Save yourself from the hospital bills!!

City - Panorama City
Located in the center of the San Fernando Valley, Panorama City considers itself the heart of the Valley. This neighborhood developed in the 1940's as the ideal suburb, but expansion across the valley gradually reduced the area's economic strength.
Van Nuys Boulevard, lined with stores and malls, serves as the main thoroughfare of Panorama City. Single family homes fill the neighborhood east of the boulevard, while the western portion contains largely apartments.
Residents enjoy easy access throughout the Valley, living within 3 miles of the San Diego, Golden State, Simi Valley and Hollywood Freeways. Panorama City sits 19 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles and 6 miles west of the Burbank Airport.
