Property Ratings at Stride West
Strides West apartments are great, with a few exceptions. The apartments are very large my 2 bed room is 1,200sq ft with wash and dryer, stainless steel appliances, capet only in the bedrooms, and snap in floor throughout the rest of the apartment. My only issue is that they take along time to fix or address issues here.

Aggressive dogs are allowed in the community. Cooling systems don't operate in the summer we have to purchase others means of AC to keep cool. A lot of outdated things within the apartments. Bad roaches problems. Office staff can only do so much. This is a corporate issue!

Regarding emotional support animals (ESAs), you are correct that under New Mexico and federal law, breed restrictions cannot be applied to ESAs with proper documentation. I also want to acknowledge your concerns about the cooling systems. We understand that swamp coolers have limitations, especially during extreme summer heat or periods of high humidity. While they are the standard cooling system for our community, we recognize that they may not always provide sufficient comfort for every resident. As such, residents are welcome to use alternative cooling methods as needed. Your feedback is valuable. We also take pest control and general maintenance very seriously. If you are still experiencing issues such as roaches or outdated apartment conditions, we encourage you to submit a maintenance request so we can address it promptly. First two years of living there never had one issue. Never have I been late on my rent never have I not paid my rent. In June my swamp clear broke it took your maintenance department 29 days to fix my Swamp Cooler. I have an elderly woman that suffers from dementia that was living with me. My apartment would get into the high 90s and never cool down below the 80s while Swamp Cooler was broken in the middle of summer. I expressed your office on multiple occasions that I had an elderly woman living in my apartment and I need my phone clear fixed. They still drugged their feet and it took them 29 days to fix my Swamp Cooler. It was a very minor Fix as your maintenance department explained it to me in July when they finally fixed it. I’m a service plumber. I work on Swamp coolers for a living. That problem should’ve been fixed within 2 to 3 days of my request. It’s only a one hour repair. I had zero communication from your maintenance department are from your front office or from the management team at stride West. My Swamp Cooler. once again my swamp clear broke down in September. I notified your office multiple times made multiple request through the website portal. Had zero communication back from your management or anybody that worked for stride West. It took them 22 days to fix my Swamp Cooler this time. both of those things are highly against New Mexico laws. Stride west broke their own lease agreement that I had with them. I have since moved out and no longer live at stride west and I will never live at a stride west apartment complex again. It was one of the worst living experiences I’ve ever had and I’ve lived from one end of this country to the other in multiple different apartments, hands-down stride rest was the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in.

At this point, I’m very dissatisfied. I’ve been here for almost 3 years. This is the first issue I had and they’re allowing my house to be 80° for six days straight. Zero communication to me telling me what the problem is how it’s gonna be fixed or when it’s gonna be fixed.

Initially, I was pressed to make my move to Stride West and the logistics were less than stress free. I needed a ground level unit, however, was offered a second level one. Not conducive to navigation in a wheelchair and rest and deposit was already rendered. I believe the management team worked tirelessly to ensure my needs were met, and they were.

The one major concern we had this past year was both bedroom windows were blowing lots of wind through cracks found from the original installation. Needless to say we not only had wind and dust coming in but heat going out. Those issues were creating very cold and dusty areas. Once the window company came out and found what needed to be done, the windows were replaced. Now we are snugly warmer, especially at night! A big thank you to the management company, GrayStar, and Stridewest were very quick to respond, investigate, and then ordered the install for us. A big thank you to all who were handling this situation.

I heard there is a new management company that started here. I can see a noticeable change. The property landscaping is getting cleaned more and is more presentable. No more trash everywhere. The office actually answers the phones now and is helpful. The new manager is way nicer and helps. The new front office guy is really nice too. My work order got done. I don't know if I'm going to renew because we are looking for a house. But if not we will! I just want to say thank you Reese, Justin, Mr. Greg, Jose, and all the other staff that's making the changes.

I love the layout and floor plan here. It’s why my sister and I moved back and considered it an option for us for the next year until we got back on our feet and it’s something we could afford split between the two of us. But the management, the overall care from this place is terrible. When we come to you for a problem or an issue regarding the apartment or a billing issue and we have proof of something, and you continue to tell us, oh well it’s not your problem, it’s unprofessional and uncaring as a management and from leaders. Things are very misleading here. Being told we’re moving into a fully renovated apartment and we couldn’t see it until they “cleaned” it and that’s after we signed the lease, but yet half the apartment wasn’t renovated. One bathroom wasn’t rennovated, half the kitchen wasn’t renovated. We were looking forward to the large sink we saw in the tour. The pictures online of the apartments are very misleading. That’s not what they look like once you sign your lease and look inside the apartment you’re going to get. If you’re leasing out an apartment to someone new, you need to fix things like the drawers that don’t push in and out in the kitchen, the floors if they’re scratched and torn up, the blinds if they’re damaged, the washer and dryers if they do not work correctly, the kitchen cabinets if they’re damaged or missing pins for shelves. I’m just disappointed in the lack of empathy and work for this place. It could be really good for people if management cared and put in work to make it nice because the floor plans and space in these apartments are so nicely laid out.

Friendly community with everything to offer for a reasonable price. Had an easy experience with the move in and Dustin was a great help with all of it. Definitely recommend for those who are starting a new chapter in life and want to live somewhere reliable.

Stride west does not care if your apartment is in working condition. Waiting a month an half to get my maintenance issues done.

I recommend Stride West so far it has been good for us an an improvement from our old apartment complex. Management is really nice and they get work orders done fast.

We moved in on 6/13/23, we had our 1st water intrusion in main bedroom 1 month after. We noticed that at anytime we have a heavy rain our bedroom flood up to 6-8 feet on floor soaking our carpet and pad. Each time it happed we noticed the wall facing the exterior would get wetter and wetter. At 1st the said it was from our window, 2nd the drain on roof was clogged, and finally thought the exterior gutter was too close to the building. Each time we had a leak we got a stronger and strong smell of mold! Each time we submitted a ticket for repairs they would NEVER fix the issue with the interior wall, other then have the carpet extracted and have a fan dry the carpet pad. We had to have the refrigerator replaced because it was leaking water onto the kitchen floor, the hot water tank cracked internally and flooded the mechanical room (unforeseen problems which I understand) however our stove stopped working and then started smoking even when turned off! I had to turn the power off at the main breaker to make it stop smoking! We submitted another ticket and it took maintenance 15 days to come look at it. By this time we submitted a formal 7 day repair or break of lease clause from NM housing authority. The day we gave them the notice personal and certified mail they came and fixed the stove and extended the gutter away from the building (closing the work ticket even before entering our apartment) 1 week later our bedroom flooded again! We called the office and the created their own ticket and stated they would have a vendor come and finally fix the wall. 3 days later a stucco company came out and patched the peeling stucco near the gutter, no repair to the interior wall! I finally called a restoration company to access the damage and to test the air quality on 6/25/24. Money out of my own pocket of course! That weekend 6/29/24 and 6/30/24 we had the severe floods that caused all the ground floor apartments to flood. We had 2 inches of standing water in our bedroom and again on Sunday but this time it flooded our livingroom as well. Monday we received the air quality report from the restoration company and the report stated we had extremely high levels of toxic mold!

I’ve lived here at this complex for roughly about five years and I can honestly say I feel disappointed by stride west. Upon all the years of living here I have not had any types of problems. Management was always quick to help and communicative. Now that I have chose to upgrade and transfer to a new unit I have felt disappointed and discouraged. I have lived in this apartment coming up in 3 weeks and I barely got a working AC. I walked into flooding areas all over the apartment upon move in day that caused me some delay for getting my furniture moved in. They didn’t come to extract the floors until days later. Management didn’t bother calling and checking up on the situation. I had to call and ask for an update then they sent someone out to extract, again days later. I still don’t have acceses to my hallway closet door, my patio storage door, some kitchen drawers. This has been reported upon move in and management stated that they’ll fix the problems. I have yet to receive any update. As a renter I feel as if I shouldn’t have to be the one reaching out and asking for updates I should be receiving them.

My experience in the community is good when addressing it to maintenance. With the office there are times when it is good communication. Other times it’s not.

Serious drainage issue, we have been here over a year and our bedroom has flooded 5 times, mold test was performed that WE paid and test states that the apartment is uninhabitable to live in

I am very dissatisfied. There is mold in my bathrooms and the office was trying to argue with me that there wasnt despite multiple maintenance men confirming there is mold. It had been two week since I put in my request and the issue still hasn’t been taken care of and been completed. All this guy did was spray the mold with some primer and said would do a second coat and paint over but never came again and closed the ticket before they even came to begin with. I have heard from multiple resident the mold issue they have as well and how common it is around with these apartments and how the management doesn’t do a thing about it. The management is more worried about giving gift cards out and all this other stuff instead of taking care of the real problem here. That why everyone is moving out of these apartment is because of the mold. I am very disappointed

I rarely have problems living here at Stride West. When I’ve had to contact the office for any reason (which is rare), all office personnel and/or maintenance, are very courteous and professional.

I am so happy to be a resident here! My apartment (1 BR) is very spacious and works great for me to work from home. The staff has always promptly taken care of any work orders I need. They are always friendly and working hard to communicate with all of us residents as they work on and complete renovations and improvements to the community. They also offer regular events which is awesome! Great location close to freeway!

I have lived at Broadstone Ladera/ Stride West Apartments for 15 years. I am very happy in my home! I have seen quite a bit of staff come and go but I must say that management is doing a wonderful job! I enjoy going into the leasing office because I am always greeted with a smile. Alexis and Alex are always so helpful! I am also very pleased with maintenance as they are great guys who get the job done right the 1st time. If you are looking for a beautiful community with spacious apartments LOOK NO FURTHER YOU FOUND IT!!

Management doesn’t help at all. I have a dirty dryer machine and my laundry machine doesn’t work for 3 weeks.
Nice and friendly apartment complex. Very quick and responsive regarding issues, needs and apartment needs.

Apartment are family friendly, couple friendly, roomate friendly, single person friendly, elderly friendly. Staff is very welcoming and beyond helpful super nice! And outgoing! Unit itself is beautiful very spacious, large bedroom! Wonderful and fun amenities to enjoy alone or with family or friends! Quite area! friendly Neighbors love this property!
