The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Sterling Lake - Sterling Heights, MI
The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! Everyone at the office made us feel very welcome.
Stay away from this place and save yourself a lot of grief! The property manager is the most unpleasant person I have ever had to deal with. The maintenance people are so rude that you’d rather live with broken stuff than having to call them. They show you a decent model apartment and you end up getting a dingy apartment with no working plugs and broken closet doors. We rented for one year but left early because of a broken air conditioning in one of the hottest summers. Stay away!
So I lived here for about a year. Overall it was decent but not great. The apartment itself was nice with a large bedroom/bathroom/kitchen. My biggest complaints are with the water, every time I would take a shower I couldn’t get hot water, the shower would spray hot and cold in spurts and would really wake you up in the morning. Also in the summer I noticed my apartment wasn’t getting cool and the a/c just never stopped blowing. I made a maintenance request and it took a month to get it handled. Turns out the filter was completely blocking the air from entering. That month my electric bill was over $400 and it never even cooled the apartment. One of the employees has a very loud dirt bike that he rides around the complex and it is INSANELY LOUD that rattled the windows. Lastly, there tends to be a bit of crime or domestic issues that go on here. Regularly there are multiple police cars handling issues and you can hear screaming and yelling from other buildings. I was lucky enough to be in a quiet building but if you’re not you might be in trouble.
I have lived at Sterling Lake Apartments for almost 9 years now. The staff and management are very friendly and helpful. I have lived in apartments for 30 years of my life and know the atmosphere well and this is the best place I have lived in that entire time. The maintenance crew is also very good and whenever I have needed something fixed, they were always there in a very timely manner and completed the job in a quality manner. I like what they have done with the pool area to make it comfortable and appealing for everyone, as well as the recent changes to the club house. The apartments are very nice and like the size of the living room and the bedroom is very large as well as the bedroom closets. I have never had any issues with the neighbors and the landscaping is kept up very well. I would definitely recommend this apt complex!!!
My daughter and my little grand puppy just moved into a beautiful townhome at Sterling Lake Apartments & Townhomes. This was a huge and very emotional move for me. If it were not for the warm friendly staff here I would not have moved in. Thus far my experience has been fantastic! I absolutely love the staff who has made me feel like I am with family. They were very accommodating informative and genuinely were interested in making sure this move was seamless as possible. The facilities are beautiful. The grounds well maintained. My townhome is perfect. I love the community thus far. I actually saw deer the first night I moved in. Thank You again to the office staff and Manager you ladies ROCK!
When searching for an apartment, you always have to remember that you get what you pay for. So for 665 a month, I didnt expect it to be like the Ritz Carlton. Apartment living isnt all that glamorous in itself. I can say that I am pretty happy here. For one or two people, the one bedroom is a pretty good size. There are two nice sized closets in the bedroom (there is a washer and dryer in one of them if you live on the bottom floor). One thing that I really like is that the kitchen is actually separate from the living room. I have never seen that before in an apartment. They have central air. Wood flooring in the hallway and kitchen. The complex is clean. I love the area! Grocery stores, fast food, banks, Oakland Mall, restaurants..its all within a few miles of the apartment. Now for the good stuff. The walls are thin. At 2AM when my apartment is dead silent, I can hear my neighbors word for word. The apartment building needs some work (my building door doesnt lock so anyone can walk in, the windows are ancient, appliances are old) but they say they are fixing things up. They do not pay for anything except water, trash and sewage. For the most part, the complex is quiet with the occasional group of loud teenagers outside. There is enough parking but if you get home after around 7, good luck finding a spot right outside your door. In all, this place is worth the rent to me. If you want a high quality apartment with eveything perfect and nothing to complain about, dont expect to find it at a place that is only 665 a month.
Hello, I've been staying in the Sterling Lake Apartments and Townhomes for about a 8 months now.. The experience has been pleasurable thus far. The complex is large, as it houses both apartments and town homes. It also offers a few amenities, such as an outdoor swimming pool and an exercise room (the equipment is from the Richard Simmons era)! Never the less, these are nice amenities. There is also a small pond in the center of the complex, that is home to ducks and geese. Luckily I scored a 750 sq. ft apartment with a great view of the pond. My days are peaceful, as I frequntly sit on my balcony and feed the birds. Maintence keep the grounds clean and they promptly make repairs. My building holds 12 units and its typically quiet, except for for the neighbors snarky dog on the first floor ( they allow pets)!! The complex offers uncovered parking and parking spaces are plentiful. Rent is reasonable and the neighbors are pleasant! All of the major stores are within walking distance of the complex. Overall, I think that Sterling Lake Apartments and Town homes is a great place to live!!
Really great place. They maintain the appearance of the buildings. They have different activities throughout the year for the residents and they're pet friendly. The staff is nice. They have a pool, small workout area, clubhouse and small play area for children.
