Springetts Manor-Yorklyn, a census-designated place in Springettsbury Township in York County, can be characterized as a part rural and part suburban community that provides easy access to the amenities of downtown York and convenient shopping areas with a friendly, small-town feel.

Springetts Manor-Yorklyn hosts a Montessori school and an assortment of business and retail locations as well as residential communities. Yorklyn is also home to one of Springettsbury Township’s sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Strickler Family Farmhouse. Also known as the County Farm, the site features a historic limestone home and family cemetery, with graves dating back to the 1700s.

Yorklyn offers a blend of fast food joints, national and regional chain restaurants, and independently-owned restaurant locations.

Oyako Sushi, recognized as one of the top sushi restaurants in the York area, is tucked away in a strip mall off E. Market Street and serves great sushi from an extensive menu, with big rolls and high quality ingredients. Favorites from the extensive menu of sushi rolls include the B52 Roll, a spicy tuna roll topped with eel and grilled salmon in dill and eel sauce, the Catalina Roll, which is tuna, avocado and mango topped with salmon and the Catalina Roll, a spicy yellowtail rool topped with yellowtail and jalapeno in ponzu sauce. It’s hard to beat the all-you-can-eat sushi special that Oyako Sushi offers for under $20, particularly as you can order any of the rolls off the regular menu. Friendly service and BYOB options round out the list of selling points for this location.

Maple Donuts, a small local chain of specialty donut shops serving the York area since 1946, hosts a location on East Market Street. Offering over 58 different varieties of donuts at this retro location, Maple Donuts has become known for old-fashioned quality and creative flavor combinations. From its signature maple glazed donut to seasonal flavors such as Dutch apple, caramel apple, s’mores, hot chocolate and peppermint cream, Maple Donuts serves up an extensive menu of treats 24/7.

For nightlife options, Corky’s Pub at Laser Alleys offers bar service and special events such as football nights, trivia nights and karaoke. Laser Alleys entertainment center offers 24 bowling lanes, laser tag and a new state-of-the-art arcade. Several popular national chain bars and restaurants are located close to Yorklyn around the mall and shopping centers. Residents can also take the short trip to downtown York to enjoy a variety of dance clubs, bars, breweries, restaurants and entertainment options.


Springettsburg Township, home of Springetts Manor-Yorklyn, was named after William Penn’s favorite grandson, Springett Penn. Springettsburg Manor was the largest out of all the Penn manors and it was the first sanctioned settlement west of the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania’s history.

The land for Springettsbury was provided to Penn’s family by the native American Indians with whom Penn maintained peaceful and respectful relations as a sign of friendship toward Springett Penn.The area was also claimed by Maryland, which caused trouble with the early settlers and led to Cresap's War in the 1730s along part of the border between Maryland and Pennsylvania. Springetts Manor was eventually incorporated as Springettsburg Township in 1891.


Interstate 83 runs close to Yorklyn, providing convenient highway access for regional or national travel. U.S. Route 30, which connects Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, runs along the northern edge of Yorklyn, Pennsylvania Route 24 runs along the western edge of Yorklyn and Pennsylvania Route 462, which connects York and Lancaster, runs along the southern border of Yorklyn. In the Yorklyn area, both Route 30 and Route 462 run on or around the transcontinental Lincoln Highway.

Route 462 also caters to cyclists, as part of the BicyclePA Route S, the longest BicyclePA Route that stretches from the western to eastern borders of Pennsylvania, skirting the most major urban areas of Pittsburgh, York, Lancaster and Philadelphia. Select residential and commercials roads in Yorklyn provide bike paths and bike lands and most areas provide ample sidewalks for pedestrians.

Rabbittransit, the public transportation system for York County, runs several bus routes that service Springetts Manor-Yorklyn. The 1E bus route loops around the perimeter of Yorklyn, providing service around the area and into downtown York. Transit times and bus fare into downtown York runs around 30 minutes and $1.60. The Route 12 bus runs along the southern border of Yorklyn, providing connections between York and Columbia along Route 462.

Harrisburg International Airport provides the closest commercial airline service, located approximately 30 miles and 35 minutes away from the Yorklyn area. Lancaster hosts the closest Amtrak train station, at approximately 22 miles and 25 minutes away by car, providing frequent service to Philadelphia and New York City.

Most York County taxicab companies provide service to Springetts Manor-Yorklyn. Hailing a cab in the area is not usually possible, but service is available on call. Alternatively, use the Uber smartphone app.

The majority of shopping options in Yorklyn are concentrated around Route 462, East Market Street, which hosts a variety of independently owned boutiques and regional services and shops.

Yorklyn has several consignment shops on East Market Street such as Something Old Something New, which specializes in brand name clothing and accessories for men, women and children as well as home accessories. This family-owned and operated business provides a pleasant shopping experience with a clean shopping area, organized racks and reasonable prices.

Lincolnway Flower Shop & Greenhouses, a local, family-owned and operated flower boutique, has been serving the York community since 1955. Lincolnway provides a full service floral shop featuring fresh floral arrangements, house plants, gift baskets, corsages and wedding arrangements.

The York Town Center shopping plaza, located just across the street on Route 24, which is the western border of Yorklyn, offers anchor stores such as Best Buy, Ross Dress For Less, Staples and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Also adjacent to Yorklyn, the York Galleria Mall offers one of the largest indoor malls in the York area.

New Eastern Market, the closest farmers market in the area, offers an impressive selection of local produce including organic and hydroponic options, local butchers, seafood mongers, cheeses, baked goods, and specialty items. The market also offers a wide variety of prepared foods and an in-house dining area.


Although none of the Springettsbury Township or York County parks are located in Yorklyn, several area parks lie within close proximity for convenient access. Rocky Ridge Park, approximately 4 miles from Yorklyn, boasts over 750 acres of land, with approximately 90 percent of the parkland covered by mature oak forest. The park offers over 12 miles of multiuse trails for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders and a half-mile fitness trail with 20 exercise stations. Two lookout points with observation decks provide scenic views of the Susquehanna Valley. A softball field, volleyball court and horseshoe pits provide game space and there are several picnic areas located throughout the park. The Nature Fun Zone provides a natural playground area for children ages 2 to 12. The fenced in area provides different play zones and experiences such as a digging zone, a building zone, a climbing zone and a quiet zone. The park also provides a seasonal area attraction a Festival of Lights at Christmas, with over 600,000 Christmas lights stretched over a half-mile walking trail, complete with heated pavilions and refreshments.

The John C. Rudy County Park, also approximately four miles from Yorklyn, provides over 150 acres of parkland and features a 5K cross-country running course, a two-mile multipurpose trail for biking, hiking, jogging, and rollerblading as well as a BMX track. Sand volleyball courts and horseshoe pits are free to use, and softball fields and soccer fields are available for a fee. Picnic pavilions can also be rented for a fee. Canine Meadows, a very popular off-leash dog area in the park, was named the 20th best dog park in the nation by Dog Fancy Magazine. Penn State also maintains a display garden in the park that showcases Pennsylvania’s premier plants and flowers.
