The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Southwood Apartments
The apartments are spacious but if you're looking for a smoke-free apartment, this isn't the place for you. I can smell smoke coming in through my kitchen, bathrooms, bedroom and closet walls, outlets and cabinets. It's embarrassing and frustrating. I have to use so many cleaners, candles, wax warmers and air fresheners to try to have my home smelling clean. Ridiculous!
This apartment is close to stores, schools and gas stations. It also well suited geographically to nearby main streets. The staff is amazing and make you feel like a big family. I have been raising a family here for 5 years and we love it!
If you are looking for a reasonably priced apartment with a prime location, stop right there. Southwood may be you place. Located on the outskirts of appleton, this complex is located near a quiet neighborhood. Convince is key: about 1/6 of a mile away you will find the local cops grocery store and right next to that, a quick trip gas station. What else might you see next door? A quiet budget theater. What a good idea for entertainment, weather it's a romantic date or chilling with the bros. About a 10 minute drive from the local technical college. The apartment is very homelike and spacious. The landlord is as friendly and kind as can be. She always says hello and asked how it's going. Another great aspect for you runner/walkers. There are amazing views on the old roads less than a mile away. You can walk on old railroad tracks on top of a river! This place has been the best apartment I have ever lived in. I recommend Southwood to anyone.
First off, the management staff is excellent. They take care of problems within a couple days. They do inspections once a year to make sure everything is up to par, which in my opinion is a great thing because then it keeps the standard of living higher in the buildings. The main manager is so nice, and she's always been incredibly helpful. I've never lived anywhere with this good of a staff. The rent isn't bad for the apartments. The living room and master bedroom are both very large, and the walk-in closet/half bath in the master are nice too. They were super clean when we moved in and they'd actually just replaced all of the carpeting and sheet vinyl too. They really take care of the units and the buildings, always fixing or updating things in the public spaces, cleaning the hallways, and re-painting. The area is okay...a police car is sitting at the corner almost every night, which is either good (because there's always a police officer close by) or bad (because they feel like they need to sit there all night). There are a few apartment complexes in the area that are pretty sketchy. Plus, the people in the townhouses across the street are always really loud, to the point where I've actually had to call the police at 2:30 in the morning with a noise complaint. One thing I'm not happy about is the fact that the rent went up significantly every time we re-signed our lease. We started off at $525 a month and when I move out I'll be paying $580. Plus, the laundry is ridiculous, and the dryers don't always dry the clothes so we end up spending like $5 a load sometimes. The underground parking is pretty nice as well, but since we had two cars, I tried for over a year to get another spot underground. I called maybe three or four times over a period of several months and was always told there were no spaces, even though I could see empty spaces that were never filled whenever I walked down there. The parking lot is so small and so far away from the entrance to my building that I really didn't like parking there in the winter when I couldn't park on the street. I have a larger car and if I didn't back into my space at night, it was near impossible for me to get out in the morning. Overall, it's been a decent place to live the last year and a half and while I'm about to move into a place that's much more worth it for the rent, I think I'll miss the staff the most, because we really lucked out with them.
