If you haven’t been to South Laurel yet, imagine a hilly, wooded community with attractive houses and peaceful roads. Together with its manicured lawns and shady sidewalks, you might think this is a suburban neighborhood. Well, sort of – it is, after all, only 18 miles from DC -- but there’s much more to South Laurel. For one, the Patuxent Research Refuge is its backyard.
The vast Patuxent Research Refuge covers nearly 13,000 acres of land. It was established in 1936 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to support wildlife research – the only one established for such a purpose. The refuge is ideal for birdwatching, hiking, and fishing. For those who prefer shopping to hiking, Baltimore Avenue is home to Towne Centre at Laurel, a large shopping plaza with a movie theater and several restaurants. Head into Downtown Laurel to visit the shops and restaurants along Main Street.

They do not fix things, NEVER. I lived there for two years and the bathroom ceiling was always leaking. They painted it and that was it! One day later, the ceiling was like nothing happened (of course). On top of that they do not do anything about the rats and other pests. Look somwhere else... If I could put zero stars, I would.

It’s a good place to live minus all the rats outside and lack of maintenance. Overall it’s a big apartment space, no roaches or mice inside the home

I have lived here two years and my Kia was stolen twice. The neighborhood seems ok but I would love to see the security be more present. The 1st year was tough because of the upstairs neighbors. But since they left it’s been much better. The property is kept pretty clean. There are posts of activities for the kids.

It has been pleasant the people are nice and actually help when needed. The only problem we have is maintenance, we put in emergency maintenance and it took us going to the office and then calling them in just to get stuff done.

Maintenance is slow to get started on a job, the apartments flood a lot with leaks which creates mold. Hopefully this will improve in the future, but alot of negative things while living here.

Great leasing staff. Everyone is always friendly, professional and genuinely kind hearted. The community is safe. My only & biggest con is that upper mgmt needs to do something about the mice infestation. It is disgustingly terrible. I hear them in the walls, moving in my ceiling and caught 3 in my apartment. They need to invest the money to really improve the problem. Overall, my apartment is comfy, maintainance respond in a timely manner and the complex provides security so there is usually always someone out if you work late or anything.

It’s pretty good. Staff are nice but roaches aren’t. They fix things pretty fast when work orders are submitted but parking can be annoying.

I am a resident of 13yrs. We have have 4/5 management companies with little to none improvements or upgrades to the units. These apartments/townhomes are very old and need renovations like the leasing office.

Good area to live and the customer service office is very nice. The apartment complex is good. Sometimes a little noisy but the sewer smells bad. The are also restless people around. People spit on the stairs and drops there cigarettes.

Wonderful staff and programs on the complex.I attended every program . Live on this complex since 2004 and still present on the complex. The maintenance to their work, and at timely fashion which is awesome.

Leasing Office staff are very helpful and very responsive. Maintenance is good. Community activities have improved since I moved in 2021, becoming more varied instead of just kid/family focused. Had issues with noisy neighbors above not respecting community quiet hours despite notifying Leasing Office and security, but they moved and new neighbors are great. Quiet and friendly community, and the Leasing Office does continue to keep making improvements and living there better and better!

Very helpful and prompt on assisting me with my move in. Very little complaints my walk through. Very quiet and family friendly. Apartment size meet my needs. Look more like a condo with the double patio glass slide doors. Very satisfied.

The leasing office was very friendly but unfortunately the apartment was not fully ready when I moved in. A lot of things needed to be fixed.

roaches and poor maintenance. I live on the third floor and mouses managed to get into my apartment, I have seen pest control and other maintenance guy but no improvement.

Nice enough, but leasing office is a bit of a mess. Still nice people, though. Apartments seem serviceable enough for Laurel- I mean, it’s not the Louvre, but it seems clean.

Everybody has there own opinion but so far my stay here for 3 years have been up and down like any other place . I can say that I enjoy my apartment, it’s a comfortable safe neighborhood and they are easy to reach as far as any issues or concerns .

I have lived in this community for 20 years without any issues. Love the friendliness of the leasing staff and neighbors here at South Ridge. This community care about the residents and my neighbors are very nice and helpful to each other. My car is safe here and you can rely on the maintenance staff to quickly fix any problems. Great apartment, nice neighbors, quiet space, allows dogs and cats and has a really nice pool. Wish they had more stuff inside the gym but besides that, everything is great.

I love living here so far. It’s peaceful and quiet. I didn’t give 5 star because issues need to be fixed. Like the laundry area, I can’t go in there because it smells and have water damage. I have to go else where to do laundry. Other than that it’s a nice community.

Maintenance is always very helpful and there it fix the problem within a day or two. The only reason I’m docking it two stars is because of the rats I saw a couple days ago. As well as you can hear every single thing above you if you’re on the bottom floor.
