Property Ratings at Somerset Lakes
I was extremely unhappy due to the fact that my car got towed about 3 weeks ago in the middle of the night. I live in a two bedroom apartment, but was only given one parking space for two cars. I came home one Friday and ALL the visitor parking spaces were taken which is where I usually park the extra car. I had the option to pay an extra monthly fee for another parking space, but with the high cost of this apartment, I already felt like I was overpaying on rent so of course I did not opt for the extra parking space. Anyways, I went ahead and parked on the side of the street because I literally had nowhere else to park unless I were to illegally take someone else's parking space. My car got towed and I was told that cars are only towed by the request of the property.... So incredibly frustrating! I was late to work the next day and had to haggle with the towing company for extra 2 days, all of which would have never happened if Somerset Lakes didn't request for my car to be towed. This is just a way for Somerset Lakes to try to force me to buy a monthly carport for my extra vehicle which already is a ridiculous thing to have to do due to the lack of parking in a PRIVATE COMPLEX. This isn't Downtown Indy... I shouldn't have to be searching for 20 minutes for a parking space on the weekends. I wish to be reimbursed for this massive inconvenience, but based off other reviews I've seen here, it's doubtful that it'll happen and that I'll simply receive a "We apologize for the inconvenience" sort of response. I plan on posting on every source of information to ensure that people realize that the beautiful views and spacious homes are NOT worth the stress and tiring conversations over minor issues that Somerset Lakes won't assist with. For Somerset Lakes: If you wish to resolve this issue, please offer a reimbursement and I'll gladly reconsider my opinion of the complex/management. However, if you simply wish to respond and say "I'm so sorry for your experience" without any impactful action on your part, then you can keep your hollow words to yourself.

Hi there, I apologize again for this massive inconvenience. Your anger and frustration is completely understandable. Please reach out to our resident relations team at 888.327.2799 if there is anything we can do.
The office staff needs to take a course in customer service because they are the absolute worse. Work orders take forever to be completed and when you call to figure out why it's taking so long they give you the run around or never return your call. I would never recommend this place based on how rude the front office staff is.

We have lived here for the past 2 years and love it for so many reasons! With the variety of models that are available, it was hard for us to choose which floor plan to go with, but they all give you a lot of space for your money. Open floor plans, huge closets, and back decks looking out onto the lake make this property unique and wonderful! The location of this property is also amazing. It takes 5 minutes to drive to the Fashion Mall, 5 minutes to the Glendale Mall, and 10 minutes to get to the heart of Broad Ripple. Another huge selling point is how dog friendly the neighborhood is. There are so many dog owners and the dog park is an ideal place for them to play, run around, and get their energy out. The pool and workout room are amenities we love and use all the time. The complex itself feels friendly and safe, with lights lining the streets when it's dark and the cop car that sits on various corners and keeps an eye out. The keypads on each building door also add an extra layer of security. The staff in the leasing office are amazing as well. When you need something repaired, they get a work order placed and someone is over to fix it in a timely manner. They are always friendly when you come in the office and are willing to help with anything. It seems that they are constantly thinking of ways to improve the property and make it better for th residents, which we've seen in the many improvements they have made over the years! We would definitely recommend these apartments to everyone!

I have lived in Somerset Lakes for almost a year now. I have always wanted to live here but, as a single women in school, financially I could not afford to live here. Now that I have a family and I have a new job, my boyfriend and I were excited to move here. Somerset was in the middle of renovations and we caught a 2bed 2bath with a den(w/d included) on special. Even without all the updates the apartment was nice. It was very spacious and perfect for our needs. After two months of living here, our monthly water bill almost doubled , our light bill was on average $275-$300, maintainece has entered our apartment without leaving a notice of being there, and it has taken maintenance up to 2 weeks to put in light bulbs. When they finally came in to address our issues they signed that the work was completed and it had not even been touched. Recently our vehicle was towed because I parked on the curb. If I would have parked in someone's spot I would have been towed and the nearest free parking space was more than two buildings from where I live. I was not about to walk that far at 12 midnight and I shouldn't have to. Up until then we didn't have any issues with parking but that was the tip of the iceberg. Needless to say, we will not be renewing our lease. It is a beautiful property with nice amenities, but for us with 2 toddlers, it is not worth it.

I am so sad to hear that your experience at our community has been less than you expected. We are in the process of making significant improvements to each apartment home; new hvac systems, new windows and sliding glass doors and we have just begun to install insulation in each attic space. The issue with the parking is something that we have been attempting to resolve for quite some time and unfortunately we were not successful in our attempts. Vehicles continued to park on the curbs after numerous notices were sent out informing residents of the parking policy. Unfortunately, there were areas of the community that it would have been impossible for emergency vehicles to pass through with the vehicles parked as they were; as well as the grounds were being damaged by vehicles parking on the grass daily. We have recently made some changes to the staffing here at Somerset in an effort to ensure that our residents receive the best service. If you haven't had a chance to hear about these exciting changes, I would love the opportunity to discuss them with you. Please give me a call at 317-253-5219 at your earliest convenience and we can discuss some of the changes that we have recently implemented to ensure that you will receive the best service going forward from the Somerset Staff. Thank you, Destini Cane Property Manager Somerset Lakes Apartments
This is a nice looking complex, but keep in mind there is insufficient parking for residents. In addition, in instituting their new parking policies, they did not clearly mark no parking areas and then had residents' vehicles towed in the middle of the night on a weekday, and refused to reimburse us for the cost. For as much as I am paying for these apartments, I should not have to deal with an apartment complex with no consideration for my livelihood and not enough places for a 2-car family to park. This was simply a ploy to force residents to purchase the "optional" carports at an extra monthly charge. Do not get lured by the cost of the rent; the add-ons may make another complex a much better option.

I am so sorry for your frustration with the parking policy and the fact that your vehicle was towed. This policy is not a new one and is definitely not a ploy to rent out carports. We are trying to ensure that vehicles are parked in designated parking spaces and not parking on the curbs or on the lawn. We have distributed numerous notifications over the past few months informing residents of the parking policy and asking for cooperation. The parking issues continued to be an issue here in the community unfortunately. Again, we apologize that your vehicle was towed it is not the result that we were hoping for. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly at 317.253.5219. Thank you, Destini Cane, ARM® Property Manager Somerset Lakes Apartments
Somerset looks nice on the surface but there are a lot of problems. IPL Costs: The apartments are not well insulated and have cheap furnaces. So once winter rolls around, your energy bill will sky rocket even if you barely use the heater. We had ours set at 65 degrees and the bill was still $300 for that month. Patio: The patios are huge but once nighttime comes, you can expect spiders everywhere, bugs flying all around you, and plenty of mosquito bites. It would be a great patio though but it's just not usable. Rooms: The rooms are very large which is definitly nice, but they do not have over head lights for the most part, so be prepapred to have a light source for your room. Management: They are not always the best about fixing your problems. Sometimes they will be at your apartment within 24 hours of reporting your problem and other times we have messaged them numerous times a week only for no one to help us with our problem. They also just didn't fix the gate at the main entrance for several months, making the gate pointless. They have also charged us more for random things that they just don't tell us about and struggle to explain when we do call them out on it. Overall: The apartments are nice and very large. You can usually haggle your way to a cheaper price when first renting as well. Don't think I would live here again just because of the issues we ran into. It's not a terrible place by any means but these have been issues for us and have been a nuesance to deal with.

Hello Somerset Resident- Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback, we are always interested in learning in what ways we can better serve our residents. I am hoping that you are aware of some of the community improvements that we have been working on over the past year. Over last summer, we replaced all of the windows and sliding glass doors in every apartment home. We are also continuing with the replacement of every HVAC system. This means by the end of this coming Summer, every apartment at Somerset will have a new furnace and air conditioning unit. We are hopefully that these will impact the cost of the electric bills that you are receiving. Are you aware that we have exterminators scheduled to come out every Wednesday? If you are continuing to experience issues with bugs/mosquitos please contact the office and we can add your apartment to the list to be treated any given week. Please know that we are making some changes internally with the staff to better serve you, our residents. It is our goal to offer the best customer service to both our current and future residents at all times. We are rearranging some of the staffing and responsibilities to ensure that our residents receive the best service from both the Leasing Office as well as the Maintenance Staff. We have recently upgraded all of the community gates software with the hopes that this will improve the repair times. We understand your frustration when the gates are broken and are always working diligently to have them repaired as quickly as possible. I would ask that you contact me directly to discuss the accounting issues that you mentioned. I would like to fully understand what issues you have experienced. Additionally, I want to ensure that you do not have any outstanding issues that we need to get resolved for you. Please contact me at your earliest convenience at 317-253-5219. Thank you, Destini Cane Property Manager Somerset Lakes Apts.
Just a quick note of appreciation for Glick Co. being proactive with the trends across the country. In addition to the gated community they have installed key-code locks on every unit which provides restricted/controlled access to only those residents and authorized guests to their respective unit. This security upgrade provides a huge sense of security and peace of mind. As a 16 yr plus resident of Somerset Lakes I love this community and would recommend this as your future home. Very close community and involved. The staff members are very attentive to the needs of the residents. Thank you Glick Co.

Somerset Lakes has large apartment with great views of the lake.
Pros: I have lived here for a little over a year. The apartments are beautiful, newly renovated, and have a ton of space. The location is perfect, just in between broad ripple and keystone at the crossing. My commute to downtown is only about 20 minutes. They pick up trash right outside our door everyday. Maintenance is awesome and always comes right away. Cons: The complex shuts off the water literally once a month without warning. A few months into living here they took away our ability to pay our rent online, without warning. Parking is limited and can be a problem, we are only given 1 spot for a three bedroom apartment with three residents. Our neighbor's apartment was broken into, and the gate of the complex is often left wide open by the complex for no reason. Our trash fee was increased without warning, and we were charged late fee on our rent for not knowing this.
Come discover the blue waters and sunshine of Somerset Lakes. There are so many reasons Somerset Lake is like a vacation destination with A I'm finally home appeal. We have our own garden plots for fresh vegetables and cut flowers. A bon fire pit we retrieve to on the weekends to share stories and relax to all hours. Volley ball anyone? How about a game of tennis? Rent our favorite personal fitness instructor and meet her in our gym to get into shape for our Olympic size pool which is completely handicapped accessible. If all that swimming makes you hungry just go behind the clubhouse to the beautiful 80 acre lake and use the stainless steel grille which comes with umbrella tables and comfortable chairs. It doesn't matter what time of day, bring your electric powered pontoon and glide around the crystal clear lake taking in the sun or catching a big bass or perch to cook on the grille. If you like things a little more physical grab your kayak and power stroke around the lake or just glide along enjoying the scenery and wildlife. The largest apartments in Indianapolis and the best kept secret. You'll never want to leave. Come home to Somerset!
