My one year here has proven safe. Quiet and well maintained. The personnel and staff. Are seasoned and know how to address issues and assert to rules , regulations and whatever variables present beyond maintenance etcetera. And without intrusion nor over reaction. Immediate solutions seem to be of an essence. And consistency prevails. This is a nice safe place to live. Good location. And a fresh breeze comes through from the Pacific at least once a day. I hope to be here sixteen more months before I am off to and back to my house and small business in my home town. Greater San Diego County.

My overall experience was fantastic, professional and efficient staff, clean property and great amenities. One of the very few places I’ve found that has a nice property and is still somewhat reasonable on rent.

Soft Wind Point Apartments is a nice, quiet, and affordable place to live. You will probably see comments about problems or issues at/with Soft Wind Point, but you will find those with about any apartment complex that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I’ve lived here for over 10 years and just signed my 11th lease. It’s on a quiet street across from a canyon that creates the best cool breezes to go with the beautiful sunsets you see since it’s perched on a hill. It’s not perfect, but it checks off a lot of boxes. Plus, it’s really affordable and the office staff and maintenance workers are great.

Although they say it’s a safe “Gated” community, it is not. My car has been broken into and stolen multiple times from right in front of the leasing office and they were no help. Not to mention they’ve raised my rent almost a $1000 in the last two years. Also, to add to lack of security, my clothes get stolen out of the 24hr laundry room.

The community is gated access; however, with frequent use, they can at times require repairs and it also does not prevent unwanted access or guarantee personal security. I don't like it here, because I have to pay liquidated damages, so I can only live temporarily. When the contract expires, I will choose to leave here. I chose this place because it is very close to my work, but I am confused every day.

Built in 1987 these apartments are falling apart from the inside out. They just keep slapping paint over the issues. It may look nice, but rattling pipes, cockroaches and high rent prices will soon be all you know. You like a warm shower? Too bad. There will ALWAYS be a plumbers vehicle here working on the water issues. Parking? HA! Forget it. This place is basically an abandoned car lot as the front office wont do anything about it.

At times water is shut off due to maintenance, which is expected at any apt complex, as is replacement of appliances. We have no other issues. Management has always been open and has worked with us.

Prior to leasing, we were promised with many amenities and a ideal living experience. First few months were fine, but suddenly many of those amenities as well as quality of life started to go down. I've lived here two year almost and the last few months I haven't been able to come back from a long day at work to find a free space to park my car. The new neighbors are rude. The washing machines are always breaking down.
The machines in the laundry room are unusable more often than not, there are not enough parking spaces for residents even thought we pay to secure two spots each, the dumpsters are always overflowing with trash which causes roach infestations, our bathtub needs to be regrouted, our carpet is old and worn, and our appliances are old and very poor quality. Also, the water gets shut off often and without warning. I also found it unfair that during a global pandemic, all of our community amenities were unavailable but we did not get a discount on rent. These reasons are why I would hesitate to recommend this complex to friends. On the bright side, the complex is pet-friendly and my neighbors are very kind.
Great layout and amenities. Upon move in carpet was not washed or cleaned prior to move-in with pet hair all over apartment and holes all over walls. Oven was broken with slanted stove top.
When we moved in we had had cockroaches that we took care of ourselves wit bait traps for our time loving there. The only alternative was to to have it sprayed professionally by you and we didn't want to go through the hassle of removing everything from all the cabinets and leaving for a few days until the smell went away.
I would not recommend it based on maintenance request service is inefficiency. They never fix the problem, always have excuses or promise to come back later and they forgot.

For all the reasons above. ...dog park provides nice greenspace but on warm days.a bit fragrant and dog owners might need a reminder. But I love this apt and getting to interact w/ pups & owners on my way in and out. I don't have any reason to not to recommend... oh, except parking When someboday takes yours you are up a creek! But again office staff jumps right in to assist and it's all cool again.

Would reccomend due to reasonable rates ( thus far) and location Would not reccomend only due to persistent roach/rodent problems. Also Dog owners have dogs off leash/ poop in common area and dont clean it up It has piled up behind building next to mine ( 886) That is unsanitary Also would not reccomend because washers sonstantly broken/ not working properly, people let their small children play around machines, I witnessed this weeekend a child pulled out the soap dispenser from the machine, it was full of liquid detergent which went all over the floor The parents just left it like that. Not good and very unsafe for the rest of the day for others to use the facility this was on a Sunday, and no managment on the property makes it difficult to report as it is happening.
So far I highly recommend.

Good thing I was able to avoid this just before signing the lease. Poor management no one to talk to from the start. They will agree to all your request but after jumping all the hoops they will stab you in the back. Do not rent here.
The only 2 issues are rent amount and Lack of parking spaces
I've lived here for a long time and one of the several reasons I have decided to stay here is because of the quiet community environment. This is a quiet community and I continue to do "my part" in maintaining and keeping it this way.
Hot water pipes breaking - dirty garbage areas - dirty non operational laundry facilities - dirty pool area - dirty grounds with dog waste and overflowing waste bins - bins without lids - Shared water/trash/sewer bills that are very high based on how you calculate ea. tenants responsibility and letting broken pipes run for a day or two before repair.
The aforementioned charges for sewer/water/trash. Why don't you just add $50 to everyone's rent?
The service request was not completed in it's entirety. Also, the heater worked for 2.5 days before it stopped working again. So, at the current time it needs to be repaired and/or replaced.
Right from the start this place has been a nightmare. From cockroaches to mold. When I told them about the mold around the a/c unit and window they told me it’s in every apartment and it’s our job to just wipe it away. They don’t do anything about it. The window seal was also filled with water after the rain and he blamed it on just being cold outside and thin windows. Our garbage disposal stopped working and the matinence guy gave me a toold to fix it when it happens and tells me the garbage disposals are peices of crap and the company tells them to not even send them back when they break. The up keep around the apartments is bad like they aren’t even taking care of it. The gym that was talked about in the application has yet to be open and we have been here for 7 months. I suggest nobody waste there money on these run down apartments.
I would tell my friends it was fair in rent, but I would tell them to make sure they get what they are looking for. The apartments are old.
For the price you pay, you can see the difference in how old the apartments are. And the neighborhood your in the price should not be that high. There are similar Vista apartment complexes that are less monthly that you get more with. Such as a dog park, in unit laundry, updated apartment rentals.
Pool/Workout/laundry room upkeep has been slow & messy. Grounds maintenance is muddy & trash around apartments.
I would recommend that there be guest parking available. It is very inconvenient.
The fitness center has been down half the year, the laundry facilities are not taken care. Of, they are broken and stink and there is water all over the floor all of the time
The Softwind Point utility bill is too high in light of the additional cost in rent and the air conditioners don't work and increase the bill when run. Can't track water usage per unit and there are many more people living in other units than I have living in mine. There should be better security at the gates or at least some semblance of security at the main entrances. Although much better this year, vehicle property theft occurs regularly and my parking clicker was stolen out of my vehicle, along with other items, just last week. Parking situation is untenable and unreasonable as there is no visitor parking at all, which is dissimilar to both of your company properties nearby and there is no available street parking nearby. Towing Company conducts tows indicative of a predatory towing scheme, and commits violations of all towing laws by over-charging, falsifying invoices on at least 4 occasions and on 1 occasion was videotaping and interrogating a military service veteran with disclosed PTSD condition and resident about parking after the violation had already been abated, which is unnecessary and inappropriate and presumably constitutes conduct that exceeds the scope of the authority granted to him by SWP management. All 6 incidents are well-documented and the parking website suddenly has a profile photo of a odd looking male in place as my personal profile photo on my personal webparkingsoftware.com page, and the page does not work or allow me to add temporary vehicles (both which are different than the pages of other residents). Please ask the parking company to remove the harassing content, demonstrating that it has targeted me personally and is harassingly communicating with me by directly and indirectly contacting me and this has caused me emotional distress and safety concerns, particularly at night.

This place was a nightmare from day one. Old interiors falling apart. Poor maintenance guy worked half to death managing the whole complex on his own. Copious drugs being passed around by neighbors. Laundry rooms were filthy and rarely had all the washers or dryers working at any one time. Terrible for the price. Could rent at a '??luxury'?? complex for just a little more.
I would not recommend. The main office personnel are horrific. Maintenance men are the only good ones in the office.
The community is great and the maintenance workers are fantastic, the biggest issue is how overpriced it is here. This is a Vista apartment complex located behind the jail, charging Carlsbad prices.
