What began as a resort getaway for the Low Country elite in the 19th century has blossomed into a thriving community on the outer edge of the Charleston area. Countless buildings in town have been added to the National Register of Historic Places, so the local architecture definitely contributes to the charming atmosphere.
The town has experienced massive growth since the 1980s, meaning many of the apartments and homes are fairly new, and the cost of living is very affordable compared to many places closer to the city. Only about 30 minutes to downtown Charleston via I-26, it’s a great place for commuters to call home. Parents will appreciate the terrific local schools and family-friendly events like the annual Flowertown Festival.

Property Ratings at Slate Nexton
Beautiful property in a great location! Walking distance to fine dining.
This place is a joke. Looks nice from the outside, management is horrible. It’s dirty, nothing that you are paying for ever works. Even now, the pool is of course, locked up.
My apartment is full of spiders, ants, roaches. When you apply here they don't mention certain charges you have to pay and it's also not in your lease that you signed. When you get your first bill you will be surprised about things like you owe a nonrefundable 250.00 room key fee. Management admits to getting your emails when you ask them if you can catch them but will not return emails or calls. If something breaks you will not get it fixed in a timely manner or even at all unless you repeatedly contact them. Very rude not to return customers phone calls or email. Lots of serious things broken in the room. Door hinges on the door leading to the outside on the wrong side of the door so any criminal can easily get in our room with a screw driver. Unfortunately I can not recommend this place.
If you would have asked me in December I would have 100% recommended this place. We got new management in January and it’s been downhill ever since. It’s like pulling teeth to get anyone to answer the phone, I have left voicemails and sent multiple emails to the property with no response, I’ve submitted a maintenance request that got ignored for 2 weeks and randomly marked as completed when nobody had come to my apartment. The pool has been closed for over a week with no communication on when it could potentially open again. Just overall the communication is lacking. If they can fix that then it is a really nice place but management is half the battle.
They have allowed this place to deteriorate. Property management unprofessional and dishonest. Will not assist. Refuses to provide lease entitled documents. No one keeps up with the property. Highly discourage you to move here. Even heard them lying to potential renters to get them in. West shore manages this property and is turning it into a total dump.
