The community is well-maintained, and any issues were promptly and efficiently addressed. In particular, Brittany was by far the best property manager I’ve worked with. She was incredibly helpful, attentive, and went above and beyond throughout my time at Santal to ensure everything ran smoothly. I would not hesitate to recommend Santal Thousand Oaks to others seeking a well-run and professionally managed living experience.

I lived at this property for over a year. While the first year was fine under the original management team, everything declined after a leadership change. Communication became inconsistent, follow-through on issues was nonexistent, and tenant concerns were routinely brushed aside. In April, the restaurant directly beneath my apartment hosted a large barbecue event. Even with all of my windows closed, smoke poured into my unit. Because every window faced the restaurant, there was no way to ventilate or escape the fumes. The air quality was awful, and the smoke odor lingered for weeks—my furniture still smells like it. I called the emergency line and was told there was “nothing they could do” until the office opened the next day. Management later acknowledged the issue and promised a full cleaning, but they never followed through. A month later, when I moved out, I requested a walkthrough. The maintenance person who conducted the inspection said nothing about any damages or excessive cleaning needs. I left the unit in pristine condition. Despite this, I was later charged for cleaning and damages, with no explanation. It was clear these charges were fabricated after the fact in an attempt to withhold part of my deposit. Any cleaning required would have been due to the smoke incident—something entirely out of my control. And standard turnover cleaning between tenants is the landlord’s responsibility, not a cost to be pushed onto the tenant. On top of that, after years of loud construction, the property raised my rent by 18%. There is no guest parking, and the valet for the restaurant frequently blocks access to the garage, making it difficult to get in or out. While management is friendly and attentive when you’re signing the lease, that changes the moment you decide to leave. They become unresponsive, dismissive, and, in my experience, dishonest. This place may look appealing on the surface, but beneath the façade is a lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic tenant respect. I would strongly caution others against renting here.

It is absolutely breathtaking, stunning, and the location location location is perfect! ;) Exceptionally rare to have a newer apartment community in Thousand Oaks that offers modern apartments, a rooftop terrace, yoga studio, co-work, and delicious restaurants coming soon, including Basta, Joi Birds Cafe and Go Fish Sushi.

Confused by the previous review about amenities. Amenities have been available since Santal opened. The penthouse terrace wasn't open for a short time, but that's to be expected with new construction. Santal is fresh, new and peaceful. The apartment is falsely advertised. The units themselves are super nice but none of the amenities are finished, or even in progress(they stoped working on the building after getting their occupancy permit). The management has made it clear its not their job to provide anything but the apartment itself. I would recommend living here only if you understand that you may be lied to about the progress of construction, but the reality is they have no rush to complete amenities or maintenance in your apartment. On the positive side, the location is great, the theme is modern and very pretty.
