Apartment Reviews at Riverlodge Apartments
For a reasonable rate me and my roommate got a 2 bedroom apartment. It's got central ac energy efficient hearing and water heater, and Stainless Steel appliances. after explaining our situation, we were running out of time to find an apartment in time for a school term, the landlord, Regina, and the staff, went out of their way, speeding up the application process, and working off hours to get us moved in on Sunday so we wouldnt have to pay for a hotel. The location is very nice, and pretty close to a CVS, a Kroger, a Target, and several fast food restaurants. There is a nature trail and a bike trail that leads to a lake. The room is very comfortable.
This place is ok...
Been living here for a year so far. I will say that they have added waterproof wood laminate floor to the entry way of the 2 bedrooms, which extends through the kitchen, hallway, and into the bathroom, which is rather nice. Downsides: You will get to know your neighbors whether you want to or not. The walls are thin, and if you're on any floor but the top floor, you will know what your upstairs neighbors are doing, as well as the ones above them in a lot of the units. You can hear people in their own units, as well as in the hallway, even at low volume. The pet policy is "no pets" but should be rewritten, since almost everyone around here has a dog, and only one person in my building has one that's trained. The washers aren't full economy and charge $1.75 per use. Another $1.25 for the dryer. Upside here is you're not required to do laundry on site, and because they have it, they don't charge for water. They also LOVE checking up on the apartment, making sure the lights all work and the smoke detector doesn't need batteries. Once a year, they'll inspect the unit to make sure everything is still up to code and nothing needs fixed and that you're generally keeping up with the place. Overall, if you're looking for a cheaper place to live in a not-so-horrible part of town, Riverlodge is fine. If you're looking for something quiet and not so Big Brother-ish, keep looking.
I have been at Riverlodge Apartments for 3 years.
Hello, if you're thinking about renting an apartment from Riverlodge Apartments, I will give my truly honest opinion. I don't think you'll find a nicer looking, safe apartment with inexpensive rent around north Columbus below the beltway than Riverlodege Apartments. It also depends on your needs. I am a single man that doesn't need anything but a roof to live under. My standards are not very high other than a clean, safe apartment. But if you're for an apartment that is inexpensive but safe in the northern area, this is the place to stay.
A lovely quiet place down by the River (Olentangy River Trails) where you can experience the beautiful walk way to downtown or to different parks along the way,,,,lots of wild life, a swimming pool and beautiful landscaping that is well kept up....the management and maintenance are friendly and helpful when needed. The bus is in the near that can also take you where you want to go Church, Shopping, eating....or just take a nice walk to your destination thru the friendly neighborhood...
Disappointing Experience With Office
Even after reading many poor reviews, I was interested in Riverlodge. The price was right and they were in the process of making some substantial upgrades. I reached out to the office via phone and email numerous times to express my interest and schedule a tour. Unfortunately, not one staff member responded. Needless to say, I found a different community that has been wonderful. I am a big believer in giving the benefit of the doubt; however, Riverlodge turned out to not be worthy at all. The leasing staff should recognize that good first impressions are very important in all aspects of business. It's their responsibility to ensure all potential tenant interactions are positive. Riverlodge's reputation depends on it in a city where apartments are a dime a dozen.
I signed my lease back in may when I moved to columbus area for a new job. The 2bedroom apartments are spacious and i love everything about the place. The staff there is amazing! everyone from jordan,sarah,jamie in the office to mike and the maintenance staff are so friendly and helpful. the pool is very nice and clean and its nice to have access to the walking trails and plenty of parking.I feel very safe and happy there which means a big deal to me having moved so far away from home and living alone. I have a pharmacy and gas station right up the street and grocery stores about 2miles from my apartment its very convenient. This place is a hidden gem! check it out! you will not regret it!
Leasing office was terrible
Recently I applied for 1 bed room which they told me that it was available in that time. But after few days I called back to them to make sure everything is going alright then they told me they don't have 1 bed room available and asked me to go for 2 bed room which I accepted also. But after an day, I called them again to make sure this time it is ok, but they just didn't give me answer just saying we will call you back shortly. I already told my current apartment I am moving out. I don't understand why they just wasting my time. They are really annoying me seriously.
Past, Present & Future
This is an apartment complex that came from a pristine past. Surrounded by trees on all sides and a city park on the north side, Riverlodge has a pool, tennis courts, sits next to the Olentangy River and has many scenic paths through and around that park. Originally an adult-only community, Riverlodge began accepting families in the 1970's and was a crime-free community with above-average apartments that offered central air and on-premises laundry facilities. Riverlodge is now emerging from neglect, disrepair and a crime element of the early 2000's to once again become a shining example of what an apartment community should be. Once again, young starter families, college students and professionals are making Riverlodge their home and are finding that, compared to other apartment communities, Riverlodge is a great place to call home.
Great place to live!
I love the apartment, lots of character,& I even get to see deer grazing from my living room window,as well as hold a baby frog once in a while.. Couldn't have picked a better community tonlive in for myself&disabled 2 yr old!! Riverlodge Apts..spread the word,safe,great place for kids, & great curb appeal!
Beautiful, inside and out
I read the review from the woman who was disappointed that the office staff did not call her back to schedule a tour. No appointment is needed, they are open 6 days a week. I walked in and was greeted by Jordan who was extremely friendly, and took me to view a 2BR apartment. I was very impressed with all of the updates they are doing to all the units. Kitchen appliances are gorgeous and brand new. Each time I have been to the complex, they are very friendly, Jordan took her time with me, answered all of my questions and I rented. I am looking forward to moving in on September 1st. You will not find a more beautifully manacured grounds. They take pride in not only the apartments but the grounds as well.

I shouldve noticed the red flags
When my significant other and I decided to move in here the rental office made it the worst process ever. They were not clear about anything and after having been here for only a month we deal with bugs horribly (gnats are the worst despite being a very clean person, fly strips are full almost over night) leaks (the vent in the bathroom leaks almost 3 lbs of water every time the person above us showers, rude rental office workers (i went to tell them about a problem i was having and the manager put her hand in my face and told me to shut down my attitude or she would do it for me) and on top of that they are now saying we have to get rid of animals that we were told when we moved in were perfectly fine. If i made more money i would break this lease right this very second and move somewhere else. BE AWARE!
Apartment staff is good
Apartment staff if good. Maintenance does a good job and they are prompt. The neighbors are hit or miss about noise and being respectful of apartment living. Pool is clean.
Do Not Live Here
The lady who runs the place is very shady, she has gone into peoples apartments without permission, they will give a notice that they need to do one thing and go through all your stuff. They had a resident die and instead of contacting the family she went ahead and stole multiple items from said resident. They scam there residence, they also have felons working there that are going in and out of the apartments. They also share your personnel information with anyone they want which is highly illegal. They are facing a lawsuit for such actions.
2 Year Resident. Decent living, decent maintenance; monthly privacy invasion, poor management.
First, let me start off with what I enjoy about the area: There is a lovely nature preserve right next to the apartments that have paths to walk through. The apartments are decent and I haven't had any negative interactions with my neighbors, though I'm not sure if that is the case everywhere. The buildings have locked exterior doors before the hallways the apartments reside in. Maintenance will generally fix what you request, however they might be in and out of the apartment for several hours for a relatively simple problem. However, I do have many issues with the management of the apartments. There is a severe, again: severe!, lack of communication between the few office workers. One such instance is in regards to a parking sticker that they require you to have; well it requires the registration of the car to be under your name. There is one person that manages the parking stickers who never seem to be in, everyone else seems to be under the impression that a notarized letter from the owner isn't accepted, but then when you actually get ahold of the one person that manages it they are accepting of the solution. They have an annual full inspection of every apartment where the owners come out to make sure that the apartments are in acceptable condition, both from the tenants and the building maintenance side. However, in addition to this there are 'preventative maintenance' visits every 1-2 months where they change out air filters, acceptable, and spray and check for roaches/bedbugs, again OK, but the methodology is to knock twice and immediately barge into the apartment to begin. I've lost count how many times I've been woken up by having someone open my bedroom door and shine a flashlight around for a few seconds before leaving as quickly as they came. Finally, their communication is to slide a piece of paper between your door and the frame. Nothing more; no call, no email distribution, nothing. They also require rent to be paid with physical checks/ money order, they have no online payment options. These communications often feature aggressive language, and if they have something specific (such as smoking near the building) they usually throw in lease termination as a threat. An instance of this, I was late on rent due to being out of town. Rather than a notice that I was late and had to pay the few, they just posted an eviction notice on my door. Which after talking to the office they said that since I paid it doesn't mean anything. Comforting.
The Good And the Bad
Some units are excellent! However it is kind of like a lottery what you end up with. The location is conveniently close to a grocery store, several gas stations and a movie theater. The staff for the most part helps resolve issues. Some units have a history of pest issues ranging from bed bugs, to roaches, to ants. Some of these are difficult to eliminate, chiefly bed bugs. The option used to treat them (chemical), although legal, is not a sure treatment (like heat treatment). Be sure to ask questions regarding this. Additionally, be sure to keep all documentation.
Bad experience with management
Don't know where to begin with. Management people is rude and not helpful. Bedbugs treatment are so often that requires tenants to move things around all the time, i'm talking about the entire kitchen or bedroom etc. When you try to reschedule you have to go through one person in the office who is not in the office most of the time, and not possible to reach by phone. This became such an annoying task to do and will not be in your convenience. I tried to reschedule treatment but couldn't reach the person in charge and causes me to have 2 unprepared for treatment and that alone costs me 100 bucks. You can look for better property management. This place is not worth the low price. Bad and selfish management.
The staff was incredibly rude to me. My companion animal was dennyed even though my doctor called. The hallways smell. The neighbors are loud. The maintenance was great and fixed everything that they could even though things kept breaking. I had to file dating violence paperwork and i was told not to cause issues for other residents when my only issue was stalking. I had a nice view of the pond but the highway behind the property is very loud and people race on it. There were many incidents that i was woken up to fire alarms. The inside looked great though so i guess i can't complain about that. Also be aware that they have to spray for bugs every few months and they also treat the grass alot.
Disgusting area. They may have updated the apartments but its done poorly. This is in a very bad neighborhood. I have seen many cars with broken in windows and people being arrested. Other tenets let their children run down the halls at all hours of the day and night. Management is rude and full of people who know nothing.
Nice property but ask for Laurie if you want to be treated as if you matter
The apartments are very nice, all redone inside and out. It is worth checking out I will most likely rent but ONLY if I can deal with Ms. Laurie. There was an office full of staff however the only person that greeted me and acted as if she was happy I was there, was Ms. Laurie. I was completely ignored by a women hiding behind a wall on her computer. There were 2 other women in the main office to involved with there own conversation (laughing and carrying on ) to even acknowledge me. I almost walked out then Ms. Laurie came from the back of an office and welcomed me, making me feel as I was the most important person she had dealt with all day. This did calm me down enough to take a look at the apartment. Like said it was very nice but if you go ask for Ms. Laurie.
