Sprawling green space, cozy neighborhoods beneath majestic oaks, and twisting country lanes combine to let you know you are in the South -- Richland, Mississippi to be exact -- but this terrific city just south of Jackson is anything but sleepy. You'll find fantastic shops, great restaurants, and a variety of community activities to keep you busy once you've discovered the ideal Richland apartment. And while some residents commute to nearby Jackson, which is less than five miles north, there are a wide variety of industrial areas and companies in Richland for those who prefer to work closer to home. Many of these businesses can be found along Highway 49, including Clarke Power Services, Siemens Energy, and Thermo King. Richland is part of Rankin County, one of Mississippi's fastest-growing counties. Rankin County is east of Jackson, touching the Ross R. Barnett Reservoir, a 33,000-acre reservoir, on the north side and straddling Bienville National Forest to the east. Other cities in Rankin include Brandon (the county seat), Pearl, and Flowood.
