ReNew on Merritt

Had some hiccups the first month getting settled with everything, but the staff is kind and having a 24 hour gym/ pool area are huge perks. Beautiful views and cozy apts

Been a solid experience living here. I mean the area has its ups and downs but for the price point, it’s better than other areas. I would recommend this place.

For the price and space (square feet), this place is awesome! It'll have its normal apartment issues but not a big deal, such as the elevator sometimes not working or the washers not working

I like my apartment. It’s my first apartment of my own so am excited and looking forwards to my stay here at renew on Merritt and explore my new home.

First week so far not so bad. I am still getting used to the new place. The place feels very pleasant and I am very excited to start using the other amenities that come included with the place. The pool, I am looking forwards to using the pool.

This has been the worst apartment experience I’ve ever had. The rent is too high given the numerous issues: my car has been broken into multiple times, my packages are stolen regularly, there’s constant construction, and water has been shut off for various reasons. I’ve spent thousands of dollars fixing my car due to break-ins over the past year. You’ll often receive emails about stolen packages, along with apologies that don’t help at all. I encourage you to speak with current residents during your tour. Don’t be misled by the swimming pool and gym amenities. Additionally, one of the elevators was often out of service. If you value your peace of mind and your money, I recommend looking elsewhere. The management here is poor.

So far everything seems great here! The people are great. The amount of space there is in the apartment is great! Feels like home already. Only con is that only 1 elevator works at the moment.

Management is really helpful with sharing information and answering questions. The building is nice and bigger than what I used to have. The price is also reasonable.

Once I visited, I knew this would be a great place to move in to. Loved our welcome to the community, people are friendly, and love the amenities. Staff really set us up for success.

Good place. Well located and quiet. Close to the lake and shoppings. Good amenities. Feel safe. Very pet friendly too. Has a small dog park.

Nice apartments, friendly staff. Common areas clean. The only thing is that is difficult to move big furniture even though the apartments are big the elevators and halls are no.

Everyone has been really helpful and get noticed with time. I enjoy my time here in the building. The front office people are friendly and have a safe space in which if I have questions and concerns I know I am welcome into the office.

Love this place! The pool and fire pit are my favorite places to hangout after work, plus it’s so calm and gated so I feel so safe! I love it here

I just moved in on june 3rd. So far so good. My only complaint is the way people park which makes me not be able to park my car for two days so far.

Moving in was a little challenging but once we got settled. We love it! Renew has definitely changed! Big windows are my favorite, brings in a lot of natural light.

I like everything here mainly the pool and the Gyn and the neighbors who are very friendly and their entrance is very great and that it is in a very nice aria

Its been an overall good experience at Renew on Merritt in my 4 years here. Staff are very friendly, maintenance requests get handled with ease. Great location, close to BART, many restaurants and shops. Good inventory of amenities including pool, gym, and dog park, though some amenities were not available during renovation. One of the elevators was down for almost two months, which was quite an inconvenience for everyone in the complex.

So far seems to be a great place to live. Very close to lake Merrit. Amenities are nice, but the gym and the dog play area are very small. Neighbors are very friendly.

Love it here. The unit is beautiful plus all of the amenities. All of the neighbors are sweet and so are the staff. The elevators always seem to have problems but other than that it’s great.

It’s been great the building is very clean staff /friendly the grounds are beautiful the over all living experience has been great I have no complaints I would suggest living here all of the amenities work everything is up to date love it here

Clean, always smells good, nice neighbors, quiet living. Feels pretty safe for Oakland !! I’ll for sure be here for awhile! I love living here. ESP with the views I get

Not too bad, everyone is friendly. Not too loud and get along with everyone on our floor! Love the fact that we started decorating our doors and saw that others started doing it. Felt like community.

Overall experience has been nice. Jacky has been great! Neighbors are great. Love the high-rise view and watching the flow around us. Very Clean, nice upgrades.... Very happy with our stay so far!

I have mixed feelings about ReNew but overall it's been nice. Cons: I was never notified that I got the apartment so I cancelled my deposit (and of course then had to pay the fee for it). Lack of communication continued with false fire alarms and no follow up afterwards. They remodeled the gym but took away the pool house to host parties in and instead created a new corner space (thats dark) with desks and chairs which no one ever uses. Sometimes there's a security guard, most times there are not and non residents tailgate in a steal packages. As a renter you will have abt $190 additionally in building utilities (water, water heating, sewage, garbage). Pro: it's quiet, great location, beautifully remodeled, residents are nice, pool is kept up, staff is nice, landscape is well maintained. The complex is getting better with communication and trying to make it a stronger community. Took 2 stars off for utilities and security.

So far I am very happy, the security inside the units is super good, everyone is busy with their own things and I haven't seen anything that bothers me! Only the laundry if they take up more control, there are people who leave their clothes for a long time and others who occupy the entire laundry room on the day they wash.

Responsive staff and nice amenities! Unit was not cleaned prior to move-in (dusty shelves, dirty floors, broken shower head, broken screen doors). But overall happy with the space!

Pretty nice is improving a bit with Security, and with some of the upgrades that have a current with the property. I noticed that there’s also been a bit more cleaning and restoration with the windows being done.

Everything is getting better than before. We have security services at night. We have changed the entrance key fobs. The management is very nice to everybody. They remodeled the building looks great.

I rate it a 5 star, I think the place is great. It just got remodeled so it has a different feel now. All the amenities is also a good fit for the guest. The only thing would it if there was a chill zone in the apartment.

I like the amenities that management provides for the tenants. The laundry room is kept clean and if there is a problem, management will have maintenance take care of it.

The move-in was mostly smooth. But the application process had a lot of tech issues that almost resulted in us giving up. The unit was basically ready for move-in when we got there, but needed a final clean.

Great place in the Merritt area with great views looking out the Bay! The community is welcoming and friendly, so far I've been enjoying my stay!

The amenities promised are extremely lacking. My mail is constantly being stolen or unaccounted for. The pool and spa are constantly being closed.

Barely moved in and there have already been a few problems and inconsistencies. People who live here are nice and I think management puts in some effort

Really kind and quiet! I appreciate the friendliness from those who I have interacted with! The maintenance man is also incredible and can fix anything in second :)

The staff is very friendly and so are the neighbors. The managers are very helpful. The property is nice and we are so amazed with our view. We cannot wait to experience more living here.

It was nice! The management team is great. The building is so nice and clean. All of the tenants I've met in passing appears to be very nice.

Clean, quiet(except for the back door) and well maintained property. The gym seems to be adequately stock with the right equipment. Will definitely wait to try out the pool this summer.

I Love my apartment. So far so good! Neighbors and dogs are friendly. Rewards program is awesome I’ve never seen a apartment community that rewards you just for for living there !

Great community , place for my dog to use the restroom , gym , laundry 24 hours . Amazing. Really close to Lake Merritt which is a huge plus.

This is a horrible place to live. Mice. Mold. Break ins. Stolen mail. No one ever answers maintenance requests. They made modifications to make it more drafty and cold as well as to lower the hot water temperature. This place is falling apart. It’s miserable living here.

It’s terrible here. Don’t move here. It’s so bad that many of us are on a rent strike. We formed a tenant council which they won’t recognize.,instead, they have armed guards here who treat us like prisoners. It’s hardly a luxury apartment home, this place is falling apart. They say that there’s an on site manager, but we’re not even sure who the manager is. If it’s who we guess it is, he lives in So. Ca. so he goes home on the weekend. He’s rude. I could go on and on. Just steer clear of this place and save yourself this misery.’. It really feels like a prison. The guards are aggressive and follow guests to the apts. they’re installing cameras everywhere right now. They won’t let tenant see the video from a theft, so you have to wonder who the cameras are for. It doesn’t feel like it’s for our safety. It feels like they’re doing it to further harass us., Sorry I wish I could say it’s a great place to live. It’s not.

I've lived here for nine years. The great thing about this building is its location: two blocks from Lake Merritt, a 12-minute walk to Lake Merritt BART station, and short drives to I-880 and I-580. Unfortunately, the quality of the management has gone from mediocre (over the years) to lousy, so much so that many of the tenants have organized a rent strike! Our building has experienced numerous security issues, including multiple break-ins into the (optional) storage lockers, the mail room, and cars in the garage. Additionally, a number of apartments on the lower floors have had mice living in the walls, and it has not been unusual to see large rats running in the outdoor common areas. Our apartment has amazing views of the lake and hills, but in the nine years we've lived here, the windows have been cleaned only twice! They look disgusting, but Trinity Management, which took the building on last August, has no plan to wash them any time soon. Most of the "improvements" that Trinity has made since they began managing the building have been cosmetic, sometimes to the detriment of the property, like removing many nice trees in the outdoor courtyard and replacing them with concrete, or installing a freestanding cover over the barbecue grills that don't work (as if they believe that grilling in the rain is a high priority for tenants). If Trinity would only acknowledge and communicate with the Tenants Council, I'm certain that many of these issues could be resolved, but they have stubbornly refused to do either. It's a shame!

Many residents are currently on rent strike due to the living conditions and neglect by management. Elevators break weekly (sometimes multiple times a week) and management says "they'll be fixed soon", but much like tomorrow, soon never comes. There is a terrible mold problem due to lack of ventilation in most units. Management cleans with bleach and then paints over. This IS NOT the way to remedy mold. There is a horrible mouse problem with the lower units. New management took over and suddenly an armed guard was going door-to-door with maintenance people. The mail room was illegally bolted shut for over a month. There is no onsite management or maintenance so issues on the weekends get ignored. The property and grounds are normally hideously dirty unless upper management is coming on site. Outside doors are always broken, packages stolen and excuses are as thick as the dirt on the windows that haven't been cleaned in months. Live anywhere except here.
