With Hayward Japanese Gardens at the south end of Castro Valley and Lake Chabot Regional Park on the north side, Castro Valley is bookended by natural beauty. Add the parks to the east -- Cull Canyon Regional Recreation Area and Don Castro Regional Recreation Area -- and you should pack your hiking (fishing, camping, boating, etc.) gear before moving to Castro Valley; you'll need it. Of course, with Castro Valley's hills, mountain views, and palm trees, you might be content to just sit on your apartment balcony and enjoy the bay breeze.
Located between San Leandro and Hayward, Castro Valley is across the bay from San Mateo, just about 24 miles southeast of San Francisco. Commuters can reach San Francisco via BART (the Bay Area Rapid Transit System) in less than 30 minutes. Had an appointment to view an apartment. Got a confirmation via text and email the day we had an appointment. We waited, but management never showed. No call, no email. We left multiple messages. They never got back to us. Very unprofessional.

Accessible to major freeways, BART and Castro Valley Boulevard. Family friendly with a pool and common area barbecue. Efficient maintenance provided and manicured grounds.
Great gated community, good management . In unit laundry a plus and pool, barbecue grill , jacuzzi.
I am over all satisfied with living here but the kitchen is in desperate need of upgrades and the pool is either permanately stained or always dirty. If your going to keep uping the rents you need to sart making some improvements!!!!

My family and I lived at Quail Hill for almost 6 years, from 2008 through 2013. It was a wonderful experience. The staff are very professional and highly responsive to any needs. They keep the property beautifully maintained and are keen to correct any problems. The apartments themselves are small, but comfortable and nicely laid out. Overall, this is a great property at a great value. Thank you to Barbara, Jose and all the other staff for a job well done!

I have been content living here up until the last 2 years and 2 significant rent increases. The kitchens need major upgrades and the pool is either permanently stained or just dirty. Since it is closed all winter you think they would do some repairs on it but instead the office was redone. Pleasing prospective tenants with a first impression won't work, I would look at the pool before I would be impressed with an office I may only step into once.
