run down, little to no maintenance

Looks nice but let’s take a closer look at all the small details, let’s start off with the pool, and the barbecue that doesn’t work, the fire pit that never worked for years, the hot tubs are in desperate need of refinishing, the lines in the hot tubs are not readable, and as you step in the hot tubs, they are very sharp edge. Concrete is missing inside. There is no air conditioning in the summer in the gym, which is ridiculous. The tennis courts are completely run down. The overhead lights don’t work. The security is a joke. They just let everybody in at my garage vandalized several times. and people just park anywhere in your spot without any repercussions because of the security, just let everybody in. I lived here for four years and it’s been a living joke. To lids don’t work they claim they have ice makers in freezers but that’s not realistic. Maintenance calls takes forever, or don’t come at all. Have you checked out the pool? There is no cabanas… this apartment has lies. All lies don’t believe the rubbish… I had a leaking water outside took about three years to fix. The gates to the pool don’t work. Cracks in apartment, cockroaches, rat problems. They should offer this place a lot cheeper

Don’t let the looks fool you

Yeah these apartments look nice and enticing from the outside. The apartments themselves are nice too but everything else does not come even close. They take months to respond to Maintenace requests, even took them 6 months to call me after a major water leak (obviously I took car of it myself after a day). Major pest issue- we had huge spiders, a scorpion, rattlesnake, ants, and a fly issue. The management is just awful and so not care about their residents.

Love My New Home

We love our new home, Mariela our leasing agent did an amazing job. We are happy with the location and convenience of having an attached garage in our home and very large living area space.

Location!

Just moved in back in August and so far things are very convenient for me being that I am a student at Cal State San Marcos and I can walk to school. Property is generally clean, I see sometimes the trash bins overflow but i see workers out there cleaning it. Seems like office might be a little short staffed but the ones that are there are helpful. Overall nice place to live.

Dirty, Smells Like Urine

Lived here for 13 months. Complex constantly smellls like dog urine, covered with poop, poor landscaping. The exterior of buildings are deteriorating covered in spider webs and bugs. Management is lacking here. Anytime you want something repaired it takes forever! I would not consider this complex luxurious. But hey now you know why they want you to move in so fast.

WORST COMPLEX EVER

I don’t understand how they have a 5 star rating. They do not take care of Maintenace requests. I’ve had a leak on my bathroom for 2 months and have submitted multiple requests and now there is black mold growing. They have marked my requests as complete but no one ever came to fix the issue because someone was home when they stated it had been fixed. On top of that our water heater was spewing water and after 2 emergency Maintenace requests and physically going into the office they still hadn’t done anything about it. Our water heater was gushing water for over 24 hours and it took me tracking down a random Maintenace person on the property to get them to fix it. They do not take care of pest control. We’re having issues with rattlesnakes, scorpions, huge spiders, and ants and they have done nothing about it. The dumpsters are constantly overflowing into the street when they claim trash comes 4 times a week. They only provide one tiny recycle bin for a huge building so that all ends up getting tossed into the dumpster which is counter productive. People drive like maniacs in the complex and leave trash and dog poop everywhere. The pool or jacuzzi is always closed for unknown reasons and every chair is broken in some way. They also have their pool hours open til 10 but the pool fobs don’t work after 6pm I would highly advise anyone against this place. I’m working on ending my lease early myself

Filthy, unsafe complex.

I have lived in the Prominence complex for 13 months. The fact that ‘Luxury’ is included in the title is false advertisement. This complex is unsafe, the amount of theft that occurs is absolutely frightening. My car was stolen from my garage, that was broken into, during the night, while my two year old was sleeping. When I notified the security guards, they mentioned that this has been happening more frequent. The complex never notified any of the residents. It has been over a month, my car was never found and the complex still has mot notified any of the residents and vehicles are still being stolen and apartments are still being broken into. The is only one of the issues. The amount of trash in this complex is unbelievable. The trash overflows out of the dumpster, into the middle of the parking lot where vehicles drive. The amount of dog poop that is throughout the complex, is absolutely foul. You can’t even walk anywhere without have the awful smell. The pool is filthy! The chairs are broken, trash everywhere. People who don’t even live in the complex come in car loads and the staff allows it. The parking situation is a nightmare! People are always parking in your “assigned” parking spot and when you notify the staff, nothing is done. My dishwasher has been broken for three months. The maintenance staff unplugged it because of the excessive amount of water that was leaking. Three months later, I still have not received a dishwater. For the amount residents pay to live in these ‘Luxury’ apartments is an absolute joke! The staff does not care and will not even work with you to solve any of the issues. I would never recommend these apartments to anyone.

Don’t move here

This place is awful. Dead rats everywhere, garbage overflowing from dumpsters, garage door has been broken multiple times, refrigerator has been broken for 2 months since I moved in. You can never get ahold of management to have them fix anything. When I moved in the apartment was filthy and I had to pay out of my pocket to have it cleaned before me and my kids could live here

Current Resident & unhappy

My husband and I have lived at Prominence for over a year now and have encountered multiple frustrations with the complex. The biggest frustration we have is the noise/stomping that our upstairs neighbors make throughout the day on a daily basis. The stomping can get so disturbing that it shakes our walls and we have had picture frames and decorations actually move due to the stomping. We have complained multiple times to Resident Services and are unhappy with the results. We have even asked to switch apartments because nothing they "state" they have done has helped lessen the disturbance. However, when asking to switch apartments we keep being "ghosted" and no one has any sort of answer for us. We even told the complex that we are looking to move elsewhere and would gladly stay in the complex if they were to let us move, but no one has acknowledged our effort to want to stay and pay them rent. At this point my husband and I are looking to rent elsewhere for lack of assistance and acknowledgement to their current residents. In addition to this, we never received a pool key when signing the lease because they were allegedly "changing the locks" and would put one in our mail box when this was finished. We moved in in June 2018 and still do not have a pool key..when I asked Resident Services about this, they stated that the locks were still in process!! What?! A year later?! I have seen multiple families enter the pool area with keys, so I am extremely confused as to why we have yet to have access to the pool through the gate. Not to mention, my husbands favorite part of the gym and daily routine was the sauna at the gym and of course the sauna has been broken for 6 months or more. We have complained about all this and more with no reply, no attempt to help us, and seemingly no concern for their unhappy residents.

WORST PROPERTY MANAGEMENT EVER

The people working at Prominence Apartments do not have a clue what they are doing. I have never EVER seen a company treat people so poorly, lie, change their story, nickle and dime and cause people to walk out of their office in tears. Despite having a certain figure for a security deposit in WRITING and IN 2 SEPARATE VOICEMAILS, Jen the manager waited until my friend showed up to sign the lease (after leaving work 2 hours early to do so and losing her hourly pay) and told her the security deposit was actually over $400 MORE than agreed upon. I am mortified as a current resident to recommend friends to live there, only for them to get treated so horribly. On top of that, they want to charge extra money for a parking spot now, when I have never had to pay for that in the 6 years I've lived there. There is ZERO guest parking (which residents aren't allowed to park in anyway) except for down at the front gate. If you live up in the back corner of the property it is a TREK. If you are renting a 2 bedroom apartment with a roommate, one of you is basically screwed unless you pay $45 more a month for a space. WOW. Don't live here, you will regret it. I will be moving out as soon as my lease is up. If I could give them negative stars I would!

The worst appointment Ever. If anything broke it will take no less than 2 weeks for someone to show up. If someone park in your spot... they only thing they do is put notice and you need to find a parking for yourself. Management don’t care about the noise or complaints... you have to deal with it. Office people are the rudest people that you meet. Save your money... we been here for almost a year and can’t wait to leave and never come back. Pictures looks good but the place is not worth $10 a month.

Looks are deceiving.

We moved in during the month of May. We were all super excited (3 of us moving into a 2x2 with a loft) to move into a beautiful new apartment and wow were we wrong. We had 10 open work orders from the moment we moved in until June 6. The lease came with a garage that we also did not receive until June, and when they tried to give it to us on June 3 it was mess with the last tenants things everywhere. The billing for your monthly rent amount is very strange (your lease says a much higher monthly rent than you actually have to pay, very odd). Now come to the month of July and we have heard of at least one other building being flooded and ruined, then low and behold the exact same thing happens in our building. Emergency maintenance has no urgency to get things fixed for you. The management team has a lot of work to do to try to make this place pleasurable to live in again. If I could go back to the month of May when we decided to live here I would have chosen to live elsewhere. We thought it was just our luck to have this many issues, yet while speaking with our neighbors below us we find out they have had just as many issues with this terribly run property. I would not recommend families to live here even though it is a beautiful place, looks can be deceiving.

Do not move here!!!

Don’t be fooled by the old reviews that say it’s great. Management has changed 3 times in 2 years now and it is absolutely awful. No rules are enforced and no support is offered by management. Residents are told to confront other residents if they are not abiding by lease agreement rules. Trash and dog poop everywhere! Everyone how has lived here since old management is leaving their leases early. So what does that tell you? Stay away!

Do not live here!

I just moved in to this complex and I am already regretting it. I would not suggest renting here - look elsewhere or you're in for nothing but frustration because this complex has demonstrated ZERO concern for this new tenant. They'll say anything to get you to sign the lease, but once they you, you'll be ignored. Upon move-in there were numerous problems with the unit including damaged carpet that was poorly installed - there were nails sticking out of the edge and I ended up cutting my foot the first night here because of that, which required a visit to the ER and stitches! From the carpet! Multiple calls, a visit to the office and emails requesting these issues be fixed are being ignored. When I asked to speak to the person in charge I am always told that the manager is out on the property and not available. In addition to the carpet issues there are light fixtures that don't work, I can't shut or lock the door leading to my garage because it's off hinges, missing light-switch and electrical outlet covers, and a stove that does not function properly, broken bathroom fan and the handle to the toilet in the master bedroom broke off. None of these things have been fixed, including the protruding nail that cut my foot and required a visit to the ER, have been looked at by the property management and I've been here for 10 days.

Poorly Managed & Mistakes that Could Cost You $'s

Before renting here, I saw some decent reviews on this site. What I did not realize at the time is that they were all from a couple of years ago. I can see how this was once a good place to live, and probably well managed back then too. But today, it is certainly a different story. I should have seen the three times that they made pretty bad errors in preparing the lease as a harbinger of the outright cluster that is Prominence Apartments. Fortunately, I caught their errors – one which could have cost me quite a bit of money, if I had not caught it. After having helped them to correct the errors that they made with the lease, I figured that was just an aberration. Oh, but I was wrong. There were some maintenance issues that they assured me would be taken care of within 48 hours, but it took many more calls and contacts on my part to get them to have a maintenance person appear. Then, a day after the problems were fixed, I had a knock on the door. It was a maintenance person to fix the problems that someone had finally taken care of the previous day. This is just an example of the poor management of Prominence Apartments. As a further example of the disorganization and bad management of Prominence, they are unaware of which residents have which garages and parking spaces. To get me to rent there, they promised me a garage. Well, they could not even find it until going on a long golf cart drive and searching a large part of the complex. That garage was very far from the apartment. So they gave me a different one that they said would be close. When I went to find that garage, it was also a long way away. It was so far that it was not usable for me as a place to park my car. To make matters worse, they told me that I would not receive a credit of the amount that was promised for not having it available. So I have had to pay for a garage that I find useless as a place to park my car. Oh, and the one outside parking space that I could get is also a distance away, and located on a steeply sloped hill, and is reduced in size from the other spaces around it. I could note a number of other reasons why Prominence Apartments has been a very frustrating and unenjoyable place to live, but I think just these couple of examples show why it is likely better to choose a different place to live.

Stay Away!

This place was HORRIBLE. The only thing nice about it was the exterior but when you were locked into a lease you were done for. The management was nothing short of rude (after I lived there) and non responsive to request for weeks! We lived there for a year and the Spa was broken the entire time! The pool was only heated in the summer, go figure. Our dog constantly had fleas due to poor pest control from a dog friendly complex. (Yes the dog had plenty of flea medication). When we first signed up to live here we were promised a beautiful apartment with a view of the mountain side. We weren't able to see it since it was currently occupied but were showed the outside of the wrong apartment to assure us it would be fine. Move in day came, all of our stuff in a moving truck needing a place to be put and what happens? They try to move us into a dirty disgusting dark apartment with a view of a older lady smoking in a night gown. Sounds like a joke when you read it but it's true. We refuse to live in this apartment since 1. it's not move in ready and 2. it's nothing what we asked for! Even the layout was incorrect and it ruined the placement of the sectional couch we bought. Luckily they had an open space that faced twin oaks that wasn't to bad. The only change was they got to charge us an extra $100 a month. Also it was not clean!! Overall I would never EVER suggest this complex to anyone even an enemy! It was a horrible experience for me and my wife from day 1! 9/10 people would hate this place. P.S. the guest parking is only at the front of the complex so if you plan on having company plan on them either parking at vons or having to cart them up to your apartment otherwise it's one heck of a walk.

Perfect Location and Great Amenities

This is the perfect location for someone attending CSUM, Palomar, or even Mira Costa College. The grounds are very well maintained. It's like a mini resort with the lagoon pool, tennis courts, and fitness center. This is a great hiking area for the outdoor enthusiast with the miles of biking and hiking trails surrounding the property, and beautiful Discovery Lake within walking distance. Grocery shopping, banking, and everything you would need is also within walking distance.

Prominence Lux Apt

I've been here since last August 2014. For a start the apartments vary in lower to higher location surrounding the pool area. Where I rent is across the pool which expectedly is a bit noisy with the traffic passing throught the day. I've got a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom at a bottom located apartment that comes with a gas chimney and air conditioning. The neighbors are a mix of families and college students who are actively using the facillities such as a public kitchen with a living room and television and a couple of computers. There's a nice theater and gym that includes some elliptical as well as treadmills and a some weight machines. To use the theater and the kichen a down payment must be placed that will be returned once the area used has been checked for damages. We used both for my fiancé's daughter who turned 16 and had bunch of friends over which was awsome. There's also a large grass area with a playground for the kids and dogs or cats in some cases. Overall Prominence is a nice area that is gated and security is diligent which makes a safe inviroment for families or college students.

Best Apartment Complex in San Marcos

Prominence is the perfect place for quiet living in North County San Diego. The staff does a great job of making sure the apartments are clean and in great condition before new residents move it. Quality construction keeps neighbor noise to a minimum and the spacious multilevel floor plans are hard to find for the price. Most units come with attached garages but detached garages are also available for single level apartments. The community features a tennis court and an amazing swimming pool with a wading zone that's perfect for little kids. The pool also has 2 hot tubs, shaded gathering areas, plenty of lounge chairs, and a charcoal grill so you can really enjoy the afternoon CA sun. Only downside to this place is limited parking and guests need parking passes. Still a great place for the price and highly recommend it to anyone!

Prominence is the Place to Live

Prominence offers spacious, clean, affordable apartments and townhouses in an ideal location in north county San Diego. The staff does a great job ensuring carpets are clean and/or new prior to new residents moving in as well ensuring walls are freshly painted. Most units features attached 1 car garages which is a huge benefit and hard to find for the price. The common areas by far surpass other complexes. The community features a tennis court and swimming pool with breath taking views of the surrounding apartments. The pool is very kid friendly with a walk-in wading area for little ones and even 2 hot tubs with plenty of lounge chairs for soaking in the SoCal sun all year round. Best apartment complex I have ever lived in and highly recommend to anyone in the San Diego area!

Very luxurious

Very luxurious, great view from some apartments (some have a view of a mountain). The pool is very nice and shallow so it's kid friendly and it has two hot tubs. Has its own security guards that make rounds but parking is horrible and if you have two cars you have to have a garage. The parking is the only downside to the complex.
