With its emerald landscape and sparkling lake, the picturesque city of Lake Mills provides the ideal blend of lakefront living and quick commutes into nearby Madison, located just 25 miles west. The western edge of the city borders Rock Lake, with three parks providing lake access. Sandy Beach has boat docks and a boat ramp, a sandy beach with pier, and picnic tables. This is a very popular destination in the summer months, attracting visitors from all over the Madison area.
The Glacial Drumlin State Trail extends through Lake Mills. This bike trail extends 52 miles from Waukesha to Cottage Grove. Whether on bike or on foot, this trail provides a fascinating landscape made up of drumlins (hills of rock that resemble teardrops, formed by glaciers as they move).
