West Ashley sits within the city of Charleston and is west of the Ashley River, hence its name, and is the birthplace of Hootie & the Blowfish’s frontman, Darius Rucker. Lined with mossy oaks, the Ashley and Stono Rivers border West Ashley, creating the breathtaking scenery for which Charleston is known. West Ashley residents enjoy close proximity to the area's only indoor mall, the Citadel Mall, and a large number of big-box stores.
Situated seven miles due west of Downtown Charleston, residents can plan on a 15- to 30-minute drive, depending on traffic, to take in all downtown has to offer. Nearby Interstate 526, which feeds directly into Charleston’s Interstate Highway 26, gives residents a fast and easy route in and out of area. Mid- to late-1900s ranch-style homes characterize the housing in outer West Ashley, but neighborhoods built in the 2000s also sprinkle the area.

In addition the amenities provided OWA is situated on a beautiful and quiet property bordered on one side by a tidal creek with lots of migrating birds, and wading birds, you really get the feeling of being well connected with Mother Nature.

I have rarely had maintenance problems. If I can fix it, I do, but I'm 80, so I'm limited in what I can do. My air-conditioning went out and Cody and Shawn fixed it promptly. I do wish the gates and doors would be fixed. They haven't worked in a year and that is the reason people move here for security. The grounds are well kept.

I moved into Overture west Ashley with a husband. had nice two bath, den, one bedroom apartment. He pass, I took a nice one bedroom unit. and this pass Nov. I down sized to a smaller apartment, which I love. My husband and I moved into OWA in 10/2019. I have seen it all and I am still here.

Great place to call “Home”. Beautiful location on Marsh with Tidal Creek and a Pond with Fountain. Walking trail on property plus adjacent to Greenway Variety of Shopping and Restaurants within walking distance. Downtown Charleston 10 minutes drive. Location could not be more convenient. Amenities are too many to mention. Cleaning Staff is excellent. And…Pet friendly with Fenced Astroturf Dog Park.

Location, Location, Location! We at OWA have that box definitely checked! We are close to beaches, downtown Charleston, fine cuisine and shopping. We would love for you to set up a tour if you have not already toured and attend one of our many wonderful events to experience the OWA lifestyle. Overall we are enjoying life at OWA….the staff is available and ready to assist. The safety features are currently not working however…..the doors and parking lot gates are wide open to nonresidents…..we realize this situation is being addressed but one of the reasons we moved here was the safety features.

OWA is a facility that is ideally located for walking and shopping. The staff is always responsive to any problem that they can remedy. There are excellent opportunities for recreation and for learning.

The sense of community at Overture West Ashley is palpable, thanks in large part to the fantastic resident events that are always an offer. For those who enjoy staying active, the pickleball court is a huge hit, and the well-maintained walking path winding through the property is perfect for a daily stroll, especially with the beautiful willow trees providing shade and a serene atmosphere. You can even spy turtles sun bathing at the little pond. A real bonus is the on-site salon, making pampering convenient and accessible. It's a comfortable, vibrant community, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone seeking an active adult lifestyle

I came through with my mother a month back and have to say I was beyond impressed with management and the tour. Everyone in the leasing office made it a point to introduce themselves and make us feel welcomed. The apartments are a good size and my mother was excited for the outside garden residents have to grow their own food. Check this place out if you are looking for an active adult lifestyle. You won’t be disappointed

This complex feels different from most other apartments in the area. And it’s in a good way. There are tons of resident games and events. The team will listen to your suggestions and let residents be creative with a monthly event calendar. There’s a huge pool and the prettiest sunsets you will ever see over the marsh. Also really cute turtles that sunbathe in the little pond near the trail

Best staff ever and the property is beautiful. I use the pool regularly and the gym. They also make us breakfast a few times a week and the wine down Wednesdays are a lot of fun as well. My apartment has high end appliances and a gorgeous view of the water. Couldn't be happier here!

I have lived at Overture West Ashley for almost 3 years, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I love being with people close to my age who have life experiences similar to mine and who enjoy doing activities that I enjoy. There are activities to attend and staff is open to new experiences for residents. It's also in a great location.

The Overtute experience is fine comfortable clean. My sister also lives at an Overture in Texas after she visited me. I lived 5 years in Indiana with my husband at Westminster Village so this is not my first experience in senior living.

Great location! This low rating is because it is an unsafe place for elderly residents to live. Our building entry doors are broken/unlocked, and security gates are broken/open. This unsafe situation has existed for more than 3 months. Intruders could enter any of our buildings, rob and/or assault an elderly resident. We pay top dollar to live here and expect it to be safe from predators.

I love living here. A huge adjustment from 2 1/2 Acres with 3 Bdrm Home a 1/3 acre stock pond with lg commercial grade fountain. However, OVERTURE WEST is fabulous in everyway. Exactly where I want to be for the unforeseeable future I am blessed with.

We have lived at OWA since it opened. We like the quiet setting between a scenic greenway and a salt water marsh with wading birds all within walking distance to a small shopping center and many dining spots. The current management team at OWA is great as are the social functions. We think that the current housekeeping service needs improvement because it has deteriorated over the last six months, particularly in and adjacent to the elevators. The paddings in the elevators should be taken down sooner after a move in-out because they are unsightly, as are the elevator floors.
