Several large highways in the Outer Pflugerville neighborhood have turned the area into a mini-hub of entertainment and dining. Guests of Shogun enjoy a modern ambiance while Hibachi chefs entertain with feats of "food acrobatics." For lunch, try out the Chicken KATSU Bento, a deep-fried chicken cutlet, or get sushi with miso soup and see what all the fuss is about.

A bit south, don't let the name Mama Jacks Hamburgers give you the wrong impression, because many people's favorites are the breakfast tacos. But with $1.75 burgers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, you really can't go wrong.

Visitors and residents unwind at the end of a long day or week at many local Mexican grills and cantinas, but Hanover's Draught Haus allows patrons to sing their cares away in a relaxed and fun environment, with volleyball, barbecue and music.

Much like many of the border communities of Austin, Pflugerville's original settlement grew independently, fueled by proximity to connector routes to larger hubs such as Austin, Waco, and Dallas. Over time, the two areas merged to an extent, but the residents of Outer Pflugerville and the city of Pflugerville at large developed a strong commitment to retaining independence from the growing Austin metropolis.

The only museum in the area, Heritage House Museum, presents a testament to the rich heritage of the city of Pflugerville. Open the first Sunday of each month to visitors, the historical site hosts annual events for community members.

Art galleries such as Focal Point, and music and dance academies such as Pfluger-Rock School of Music and Texas Academy of Ballet keep the area artistically inclined, frequently hosting exhibits and seasonal performances for the Outer Pfugerville region to support and attend.

Outer Pflugerville residents unfortunately miss out on the opportunity to easily access the northernmost stops in the Capital Metro's extensive public transportation system. Luckily, the regional CARTS service provides transportation to some portions of Outer Pflugerville.

Local taxi companies present viable options for riders willing to call ahead for a local service, though ride-sharing companies such as Uber present occasional possibilities. The area certainly favors those with their own methods of transportation, particularly car drivers, with much cheap or free public parking because of the highly residential nature of much of the neighborhood. Easy access to expressways and tollways such as 130 and 45, as well as close proximity to Interstate 35, increases the benefit.

The neighborhood is largely walkable, but the expansiveness between subdivisions can make walking longer distances in the area difficult. Similarly, cyclists do not have manybiking lanes, but with precaution and care around larger roads and highways, biking to and fro within Outer Pflugerville remains a viable choice.

At about 5 percent lower than in Austin, Outer Pflugerville's cost of living continually proves that the community of Pflugerville remains a great value location. Although trips to downtown Austin via public transportation, which include several transfers of buses and can include a switch from CARTS to Capital Metro lines, can jump up to $5 to $10, gas prices fall at a comfortable 10 percent below the national average.

Median rent for a one-bedroom residence sits at $932.59, which while higher than certain neighboring areas, remains lower than in downtown Austin. The area encourages new renters and owners by offering a range of high-cost and high-value entertainment venues, where you can get out with a domestic beer for $1 to $2, or a local craft beer or an expensive import for over $5.

Particularly bordering large merging highways, including the intersection of highways 45 and 130, shopping centers such as Stone Hill Town Center offer a diverse selection of high-end and high-value retail spaces, boutiques, chains and others.

Just Between Friends, a consignment store, focusing on a wide selection of children's clothing, toys, safety equipment, books and more, allows parents of growing children to make a bit of extra cash while passing down gently used items to the next generation of Pflugerville parents.

If you're looking to buy a gift for a friend, going through a wild streak, or just want a fun way to express yourself, Toe Ring Queen provides individual measurements and care to ensure that your toe ring doesn't come at the expense of your toe. They also have a wide variety of styles and prices, from basic bands to solid 14k gold, so you'll be comfortable and decked out as you see fit.

Local grocers such as Jim's Food Mart and Texan Market keep refrigerators stocked and residents happy with all their basic food needs, but for with limited selections on certain items, residents often need to make trips to larger chain grocers to satiate their appetites. Trips to farmer's markets can't be completed easily as the nearest locales don't rest within a few miles.

Several parks reside in Outer Pflugerville, and residents have the opportunity to attend most of them without much travel at all. Spots such as Pfluger Park and Heritage Park provide guests with open-air expanses for picnics, and field sports such as football, soccer and Frisbee.

Patrons enjoy spending time with the whole family at many of the recreational spots, as most parks have no entrance fee and welcome children and pets, a few with small playgrounds or dog cleanup areas. No parks are exercise-centric, but volleyball and basketball courts keep you in top form.

Nearby Lake Pflugerville provides fishing, swimming, and canoeing opportunities for the aquatically inclined, and other areas have small trails for hikers and bikers. A few annual events celebrating various holidays and seasons can be found here and there, either hosted by community groups or by Pflugerville itself.
