Apartments for Rent Near Binghamton University, State University of New York
Located on the banks of the Susquehanna River just minutes from the Pennsylvania border, Binghamton University is one of the SUNY system’s most prestigious facilities. The curriculum is intense, earning Binghamton University distinction as New York’s only “Public Ivy” institution, but the university also boasts one of the highest freshman retention rates in the country. The university is split between two campuses, with the main campus on the west side of town (laid out cleverly in the shape of a human brain) and a smaller facility downtown. Fairly isolated in New York’s Southern Tier region, the Binghamton community cultivates a great environment for off-campus activity. The city is full of charming historic homes and buildings, many of which serve as specialty shops, cafes, bars, and gallery spaces. A thriving arts scene in town has spurred the growth of large events like First Friday Art Walk and July Fest. About thirty miles from town, Greek Peak is a popular weekend destination for skiing and snowboarding in the winter. While rentals within walking distance of the Binghamton main campus are somewhat scarce, the broader community is full of great options to fit any budget and lifestyle.
