Oakwood Apartments

Save your money and look elsewhere. They can careless about fixing any problems you may have in a timely manner. For 5 months I had to deal with water marks, mold, and leaks on my ceilings that I informed maintenance and the property manager about prior to the damage occuring. Things tend to get fixed when they feel like doing it.

They have a roach infestation, if you make a good salary don’t settle it look nice and all but the roaches just out of hand. You constantly get maintenance to exterminate multiple times still don’t get rid of the roaches, i been seeing them since the first day I moved here. ( I wish they would had came out during my tour I will never had moved here) I haven’t even fully furnished yet because of it… and no longer will because I will definitely be moving by the end of my contract.

Let me first start by maintenance is the worst. The building is old and falling apart. The building is infested with mouse, bugs and bed bugs. You can hear all your neighbors conversation right from your bedroom. I would look elsewhere.

DO NOT MOVE HERE I Repeat DO NOT MOVE HERE this place is infested with roaches bad I moved here 4 month ago and I have not seen anything but roaches in my apartment and in the hallway they exterminated two times in its still roaches

The Neighborhood: The area around Oakwood is a suburb that arguably could do with a bit of sprucing up. Safety: I feel pretty safe walking around at night but there has been at least one break-in in the last few months. Maintenance: The maintenance crew has tasks that they will do quickly; send in a request and it’s done within a couple of days. And the maintenance people have been really pleasant to interact with. However, anything that is emergent or complicated, it may never be fixed. For example, my air conditioning unit, the animals living in the roof, the vent in the bathroom, will probably be broken for many tenants to come. During the last blizzard, maintenance plowed the parking lot within 24 hours. Not bad. Office Staff: I had a nightmare experience with the leasing manager. Previous to signing the lease, I was unable to see the actual apartment due to renovations but I was shown an apartment that would resemble it. During that showing, I was told the apartment would be hardwood. Upon entering the actual apartment, there was wall to wall carpeting. I called to let the leasing manager know that I was told false information during the showing and was hoping there could be a solution. She accused me of lying. Then she said I shouldn’t be so picky because I am a student. (What a weird statement.) She also said I should have made sure the floors were hardwood. (I couldn’t access the apartment before so how could I besides asking? And does that mean potential tenants should be responsible of making sure they’re not lied to?) It was impossible trying to communicate with a woman having a temper tantrum over the phone. I would say that the management is generally disorganized. The Apartment: When I moved in, the apartment was pretty dirty. There was hair all over the bathroom, evidence of a roach infestation in the kitchen. Later, I had rat enter from the water heater lines in the closet. The one clean thing was the brand new carpeting. Haha. The irony. After giving the place a good scrub, the apartment was decent if you can look pass the flimsy kitchen cabinets, uneven closet doors, that strange hole in the bathroom floor, and other details that shows decades of wear and tear. One thing I can’t seem to get over is how thin the walls are. I feel as if I’m very much a part of my neighbor’s lives. Overall: Not the worse but I still wouldn’t recommend to anyone with other complexes in the area within the same price range. Happy apartment hunting!

Theses apartments are nothin like presented on here when u look them up, I rented at oakwood for 1 year and was done. the ceiling in my bathroom was so bad and had a leak that it just made a hole in it allowing two cockroaches to get inside I told the little fat maintenance man and he said they would be over to check it out and guess what they came three days later smh also the complex is over run by roaches and mice and on top of that they keep the water heater in your hallway closet which isn't sealed right or proper so I constantly had bugs getting in from that area as well, bathrooms are outdated and your hot water only last in the shower for approx 7 min....don't rent there!!! you've been warned

Just moved in to oakwood apartment... I haven't been there for a month yet ... But so far so good.
