Northgate Crossing of Wheeling

I do not recommend living at this apartment complex. There are several ongoing issues that make living here frustrating. The new management team is unprofessional and has very poor communication skills. They often promise to return call but never do. Important updates are said to be sent via email - but often are not sent at all. Pet policies have changed without any prior notice, which is extremely inconvenient for pet owners. On top of that, packages are frequently lost or mishandled. Overall, living here has been a disappointing experience.

Just moved in the past two weeks, but so far it’s one of the best complexes I’ve been in. Everyone is friendly and the amenities are fantastic as well as well maintained.

I have been living here for 2 years now and the place is amazing. They keep organizing get togethers like beer and pizza , taco and wine etc. which is a great opportunity to connect with other residents and the management.

Northgate crossing is very nice and luxury apartment. Apartments are equipped with all the modern facilities and safety wise also it is very good. Everything is properly organized and we can call for maintenance help whenever we want. I shifted to this apartment in feb 2019 and since then I didn’t face any issues. Initially I was not having car so maintenance people helped me in shifting my courier goods from leasing office to my home. It has very good connectivity to Restaurants, train station, and grocery stores. I would recommend to my friends whoever are looking for apartments in this location.

I lived here for exactly one year. During that time the community has changed hands at least once and the staff plus managers have changed at least 5 times. One year. Things are not maintained, our place was still dirty when we moved in, dog waste containers at times were not emptied for 4 months, their boche court is missing the balls, pool table is ruined and balls chipped, no one there knows what’s going on, if you call you’re lucky to get a call back, they removed their rent drop box to make payment harder, their online portal for payment always has issues, doesn’t work, or shows the wrong amount. They literally are the worst run community in this price range in all of cook county. Do not bother looking into this place.

I'm not one for writing reviews, but I've been pushed to my limit with living at Northgate. When I took my tour everything seemed awesome, but then I moved in and was so wrong. The property was built so poorly and cheaply. I have nicks all over my cabinets, bathroom tiles, and flooring. The walls are paper thin. I can hear every single movement of the people above me and next door to me from every step they take, to every door and closet they open and close, to every time they flush the toilet, to mumbling voices through the vents, to neighbors having sex. Some of the other tenants are so disrespectful...they smoke on the property, leave their trash all over the parking lot and front entry halls, and one even said "I don't care if I am disruptive, I pay rent here". It's way over priced for the quality you are getting, especially to be so unhappy. It may look really nice at first glance, but it's not worth it. The new management company doesn't care about their tenants. They have done nothing to help solve any of the issues I have brought to them. They don't reply in a timely manner. They took two months rent out in one day from my account because they were late to cash my check from the previous month. They didn't seem to care that this was a financial burden for me. They keep giving excuses for all the things that go wrong. I've talked to other neighbors who feel the same way I do.

- maintenance staff will not show up for days after the work order/maintenance request is placed - trash/garbage will never be cleared (luxury?) come here and it will be nasty - no hot water. Run water for 10 mins and you’ll be out of hot water. - stinking corridors. Not sure what scent they use

We've now had a few maintenance issues and they have always been addressed immediately and courteously. They stop to put the little booties on so they don't mess up your floors and even wiped down my counter where he had put a bucket!

This is excellent community and this made possible by excellent team that makes this place a home to call your own.

The maintenance staff, namely Jorge (George) is an absolutely bright shining star and a joy to interact with. All maintenance requests were handled quickly and politely.

We love living here, but every time the weather changes, for some reason we have this same issue where our door becomes almost impossible to lock. The maintenance staff always does a great job fixing it. It's just annoying to have to deal with a few times a year.

the noise level in the evening, particularly on weekends is not what I'd expected. there is no "policing" of the premise after 6:00 it would appear. I would not recommend for this reason. Seems many residents here just do not respect others. This past Monday evening a group started grilling food at 9:30PM then took to the firepit until 11:00 with children yelling/screaming. very disappointed.

Expensive for area, community is more transitional in clientele with not as many young professionals, and residents seem to complain about anything based on all of the emails we receive from leasing office.

I love Northgate Crossings! I will be here until I build my house next year!!! I've told everyone about how great this place is!

So far, we have had nothing but a positive experience here! Jorge introduced himself (I met him coincidentally on the elevator and I had a heavy cooler I was bringing in) he carried it for me to the unit. He put on the shoe covers to come in, told me what he was doing along the way and when he would be back to fix the problem.

Great apartments, with thick walls that keep out cooking smells, and prompt maintenance requests.

My now-fiance and I have lived at Northgate Crossing for a couple of weeks now, and we have a few thoughts (mostly good) about the community so far: 1) The apartment homes are fabulously made. The open floor plan makes it a joy to come home to after work. There are plenty of windows, so the rooms are bright, and the kitchens are gigantic. So, COOK AWAY! There are also elevators in every building, which add to the luxury. 2) The staff are very friendly and willing to assist you in any way they can. Andrew, Alex, and Sarah were extremely helpful in getting us into our new home! 2) The community is VERY active. People use the clubhouse amenities (barbecue grills, pool table, gym, bags and ping-pong games, bonfire) nearly every day. It's quite refreshing to see the community members ACTUALLY USE the amenities. Despite it being very active, though, it's surprisingly quiet. You'll still be able to catch your "Z's" in peace. 3) The city of Wheeling doesn't allow barbecue grills on balconies, so grilling on your porch or balcony is a bust. Northgate has 2 large grills outside of the community center, but I'm pretty sure we'll be lucky to use one this summer, given the heavy use this spring. 4) The community was built right next to a commuter and freight railway. This takes some getting used to, because it shakes the buildings ever-so slightly. The Metra doesn't run on the weekends, so you get a little peace from hour-after-hour train activity throughout your Saturday and Sunday; HOWEVER, freight trains are excluded. They still run on the weekends. 5) Northgate Crossing is nestled in a bustling area. There are plenty of things to do in Wheeling and Buffalo Grove, and Vernon Hills is only a few miles away. Tons of tasty food options, movie theaters, bowling alleys, bars....you name it. My fiance and I are very happy with our choice to live at Northgate Crossing! We're excited about the summer, and looking forward to spending many years in this community!

I think for amount of $$ with garage you could pay a little more but better place. However this is good for what my needs.

Positive environment, people are mostly considerate and respectful. Property is well maintained. Rules are enforced in a fair and even handed manner.

Maintenance is quick, wayne, and completely professional at all times. I haven't passed and I will continue to recommend Northgate Crossing to my friends.

All staff have been helpful and friendly.

Would recommend because they are very nice, new has a lot to do with it. Kitchen is updated and the area is very nice, outside of the traffic trying to get out of the parking lot, the area is very nice.

The neviornment is safe, clean, and comfortable. I feel at home here.

The apartments and amenities are great: laminate flooring, granite counters, stainless appliances and a clubhouse with a theater room, heated pool, and workout room. However if you expect any sort of noise isolation, look elsewhere. You will hear your neighbors above you walking around and their TV through your ceiling. You will hear literally everything that happens in the shared hallway, especially if your neighbors have dogs barking near their entrance door (and there are a lot of dogs here), because your door to the hallway will block virtually no noise. This is the noisiest place I’ve ever lived. I’ve lived in apartments that cost less than half what Northgate Crossing charges, and they had similar or lower levels of noise. At this price, it’s simply unacceptable.

I love everything about this community/area.

Taylor was extremely accommodating and very nice! They are newly built. My fiance and I were given the option to choose our own cabinet colors and had a lot of options as to the location of the unit. I would recommend 100% to anyone new to the area. Yes, they may be a little on the expensive side but you get for what you pay for. There are others near that are similarly priced.

If this problem can be fixed at Northgate have my support all the way I think this is a very nice development community people are friendly and nice alone with the staff here. I have enjoyed myself here for the 3weeks. But I am afraid to unpack do to the flood waste problem.

I brag about this community every chance I get. I don't have a problem with referring individuals.

Love the garage, glad I moved in early to get one. Relaxing life style now that we've downsized.
