The past few times I've gone to the apartment gym early in the morning (around 6am) there have been homeless people in the gym!! I assume they break in (the locks on the gym doors have been broken) and sleep in the bathrooms/sauna areas as that is where I usually see them. The most recent time I saw a homeless person he was watching TV at 6am with no shoes and carrying trash. Each time I come in they leave. Ridiculous that this is reoccurring. Horribly unsafe. The worst part is the apartment complex claims they have "security guards" walking around and I have lived here for two years and never seen a security guard, ever.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. Newport is located in a great neighborhood that has traditionally been a low-crime area. The situations you referred to here were isolated incidents. After this came to our attention we immediately alerted the police and our courtesy patrol, resulting in increased patrols of the property. We also verified that the locks on the doors were in good working condition, and we installed locks on the windows to prevent them from being opened wide enough for a person to gain entry that way. We have not been made aware of repeat incidents since these preventative measures were put in place several months ago. We remain committed to having a well-maintained community that is an enjoyable home for all our residents.
The grounds are very well maintained and they are meticulously about vacuuming the apartment building hallways daily which is great! Plenty of street parking making it easy for people to come over and visit. The pool is great - and it is solar heated. so it feels nice even when it isn't just crazy hot out. But more than anything we have been really pleased with the level of service the office and maintenance provides.
