The Des Moines branch of National Biscuit Company was the largest bakery in Iowa at the time. Everyone today knows this company as - Nabisco. The building is of Masonry and heavy timber construction and was converted to 54 affordable single resident housing units in 1995. In 2008, the building underwent a significant remodeling. The building retains its historic character. Wood ceilings and beams, and the perimeter brick wall, remain exposed and appear virtually new. While the individual units are small, they are cozy and comfortable. The ceilings soar 11 to 15 feet and the windows are large, flooding the interior with light.
