The locally owned eateries thrive as the real stars in this neighborhood, although many chain restaurants have a presence as well. From fine dining to casual fare, Morrison Plantation has something to please every hungry resident.

Stop by Caruso's for an upscale Italian dining experience. Step back into old Italy and admire the frescoes while having a glass or bottle from the carefully selected wine menu. The Pollo Marsala's smoky and sweet flavor has locals coming back for more. Don't forget to ask your server about the unadvertised specials of the day.

For a more casual experience, try the centrally located Blu Star Grill. Burgers, sandwiches, salads and wraps serve as staples on the menu. Additionally, the dinner menu offers several seafood and pasta options. Blu Star Grill is best known for its burger offerings, allowing diners to craft their own concoctions from a cafeteria-style menu. Choose your meat first, then decide on your bun, sauce and toppings; round out the meal with a few selections from a generous menu of sides. The owner insists on using natural and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

For healthier fare, check out Field of Greens. As the name implies, this trendy bistro specializes in fresh salads and veggie-inspired wraps. For those ambitious enough to stray from the menu, this place offers a build-your-own salad option. With a variety of ingredients to choose from, Field of Greens leaves everyone feeling satisfied.

Head to Hotshots Sports Bar & Grill when you feel like a night at a classic sports bar. A wide variety of sports plays on the TVs, while pool tables, darts and even a poker table beckon you for more fun. Fast, friendly service combines with ice cold beer on tap and generous servings of upscale bar food to make this spot a local fave.


Morrison Plantation was developed in the mid-2000s, making it one of Mooresville's newer neighborhoods. Ongoing construction of single family homes, townhouses, condos, and apartments offers new residents plenty of options.

The city of Mooresville, dubbed “Race City” for its association with NASCAR, serves as home to numerous racing teams and drivers. Just adjacent to Morrison Plantation lie both of Mooresville's automotive museums. The Memory Lane Motorsports and Historic Automotive Museum contains over 150 exhibits illustrating the history of the automobile, from the original buggies to present-day models. Alternatively, the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall Of Fame houses more than 40 different racing vehicles, from stock car to drag racing. With race-themed shops as well as a restaurant, visitors can plan to spend an entire day here.

Additionally, Mooresville houses the corporate headquarters of Lowe's home improvement stores, as well as NASCAR's technical institute.


Most residents primarily use their vehicles to get around the area and commute to work. There's ample, easy-to-find parking. Within this residential community, all streets have sidewalks for foot traffic and also provide enough room for bicyclists to travel safely. Additionally, many amenities, including grocery stores and restaurants, can be found within walking distance just off of the main thoroughfares of River Highway and Williamson Road. Hailing a cab may not be an option, but an app click to Uber can get locals where they need to go.

While the CATS public transportation bus line only runs as far north as Davidson, it's just a quick 10-minute drive to the park and ride station here that will take commuters to uptown Charlotte and beyond. Interstate 77 runs adjacent to the neighborhood, connecting commuters to Charlotte to the south and Statesville to the north.


Living in Morrison Plantation carries an overall cost of living that's about the same as Charlotte. Rent for a one-bedroom apartment averages $915 per month. Expect to pay about $4 for a pint at the local watering hole.

Gas prices in the area hold steady at about 2 percent lower than the national average and about the same as prices found in Charlotte. Those using the CATS public transportation system can expect to pay $6.60 for an all-day pass, while monthly passes can be purchased at a discount.


Locals needn't travel far to access the abundant amenities in the area. Strip malls and shopping clusters house many of the national big-box and specialty retailers, as well as some unique boutique shops. Most of these can be found just off the main thoroughfares.

Locally-owned Sweet Grass offers a variety of gifts ranging from jewelry to household items such as candles and soaps. New items come in regularly, so check back occasionally.

Carried Away, another family-owned local shop, specializes in “green” and recycled products. From acrylic wine glasses to totes made from recycled plastic, shoppers can be sure to find something that embodies their style while allowing them to contribute to an environmental cause.

Best Buy, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Staples are just a few of the national retailers with stores in the area. Popular grocery stores such as Harris Teeter, Lowe's Food, and Food Lion all have a presence here, as do several of the national drug chain stores.

Josh's Farmers Market has been called a “local staple” where shoppers can choose from an assortment of fresh, locally-sourced produce, baked goods, homemade jams, fresh fish, and even plants and flowers. Reasonably-priced gift baskets offer a unique gift option for that special someone.


Family-friendly Hope Park lies in the heart of the neighborhood. Catering mainly to kids, the park has a splash pad to cool off during the hot summer months, along with numerous interactive structures to climb and explore. Additionally, the facility has numerous picnic tables and benches, along with a gazebo providing shelter from the elements.

Located just 11 miles to the north is Lake Norman State Park. With access to the largest man-made lake in the state, this park beckons visitors to swim, boat, and fish along its 33-acre site. In addition, the park houses 33 traditional camping sites and five sites for large group outings, starting at just $17 per night. Several covered picnic shelters can be found here as well.
