Property Ratings at Monona Lakeview
ZERO STARS. Since being bought by Katz properties they have taken a nose-dive (look up Katz reviews for ALL their properties). Do not move here under any circumstances. There was a car fire here on Jan 20th, extensively damaging the building. The burnt car carcass remained in the basement/garage until May. servepro (company hired to “repair”) severely mishandled our homes leaving them open with no security for over 72 hours while we were displaced. Katz did not even have a way to contact all of the tenants & did not send a statement until days later. There were tenants that had no idea about the fire until they tried to come home/were alerted by neighbors. There was burglaries &squatting. We were rushed back into our homes Jan 31st even though the moment you entered the building, there was an undeniable, strong smell of burnt rubber & chemicals (the building still has a smell to this day). I felt sick within minutes of being inside. All they offered was 11 days prorated rent. It couldn’t be more clear that their main &only priority is profit. There is still soot damage visible throughout the building. The burglaries continued even after we moved back in. We were told to find “street parking” until further notice (there is no street parking here, one side is the lake, the other side is monona dr and this place is a bad joke). The building is a continued health threat. They repainted the hallways & instead of washing the soot off/taking proper precautions they painted right over it, so if you move here the walls may look fresh, but there is likely soot under there & you are compromising your health without even knowing it - they surely won’t tell you & will just be smiling in your face. The prices have gone up massively since Katz took with zero justification. No amenities. The small laundry machines that do not work well are $2 per wash $2 per dry. The staff is crass, condescending & unprofessional. No one deserves to live this way. There are vacancies here because people are leaving constantly. Before all of this I had neighbors that lived here for DECADES & it has become intolerable and dangerous so they’ve left. The only plus side to living here now is that I have become well versed in WI tenant laws. These people are absolute crooks. If you’ve already signed a lease, look up the Tenant Resource Center in town, they are your friends. Get personal security cameras in your homes ASAP. Communicate via email so you have a paper trail. ZERO STARS.
Units are very old, old amenities. No washer/Dryer hookups. No central air. No dishwasher. No balconies. They are trying to match the prices in the surrounding area but those apartments are all BRAND NEW.
I rented an apartment here for over six years and loved every second. I moved frequently before living here and this is the only property that felt more like a home than an apartment building. Not only are the views amazing but the grounds are well maintained, public spaces respected by tenants, and you can't beat the location. The Management Staff are welcoming, friendly, professional, and genuinely care about the tenants. I can't say enough about this place! It truly is a gem.
I just cannot say enough good things about Glen and the staff at Monona Lakeview. Both my adult children lived there a combined 10 years. Move in was smooth and easy. Both my children moved from Monona Lakeview due to jobs in different cities. Monona Lakeview is heads above the other apartments they have lived in. They both loved living there and we loved visiting them there. The move out process was just as smooth as moving in. Not only was the staff attentive, responsive and courteous; the other residents seems to be just as nice. If it were not for new jobs they would have not moved. The off street parking, underground parking, community room and even a place to grill out are all great features; however, the view of the lake is what I liked the most. My sincere thanks to all the people at Monona Lakeview.
Apartments are sunny and spacious, most have a lake- facing window, or a bay window to offer a beautiful view of Lake Monona and the Capital. Great location next to Olbrich Park, bike paths, etc. I love the apartment managers and the staff here, they are quick to respond to issues, and if you submit a maintenance request, its always completed within a few days. they respect your privacy and keep the property very clean and up to date - just got new windows last fall! there are courtyards in between the buildings where you can have a grill/ patio furniture to enjoy the lovely lake breeze in the summertimes. parking can be a little tight on the south end of the lot, there is great underground parking available.
