Birmingham, Alabama is the genteel city of the South. It is magnolia trees, historic buildings, and Southern hospitality. But Downtown Birmingham is also a fast-paced city filled with fascinating locations, great restaurants, theaters, museums, shopping, and more. Forget what you think you know about living in Downtown Birmingham and get ready to be surprised. For example, did you know there's a Loft District? This historic downtown district contains fantastic nightlife in the form of wine tasting rooms, taverns, and clubs. If you head down First Avenue to the corner of First and 20th Street, you'll be standing on the "Heaviest Corner on Earth," nicknamed for the four large buildings built there around 1909 -- then some of the largest and most impressive buildings around.
When you rent an apartment in Downtown Birmingham, you'll enjoy an active, dynamic lifestyle -- but one wrapped in that slowed-down, Old South charm.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Met on 7th
Hi, I just want to leave this review to warn people before moving into the Met. I have lived here for 3 years & the first 2 years I had a wonderful experience aside from a couple of things but they were always open to listening & addressing the concerns. However, we have had several changes in management & it keeps going downhill. 1) The gates are broken 80% of the time. 2) String of thefts & cars being broken into & management never communicates on a wide spread level addressing the concerns. My car was broken into as well & had my belongings stolen out of it. 3) Courtesy officer is rarely on property as promised. Keep your expectations low. 4) Pool is not maintained consistently. It often turns swamp green & grows algae. Residents also trash the property. 5) Doors are left propped open for anyone on the street (homeless surround the area) for anyone to just walk in. This issue has picked up over the last couple of weeks & I was told by management that it is my responsibility to communicate to other residents to keep it closed & when I asked if the front office could at least do the bare minimum of sending an email out to everyone about this I was told “It could still happen” so basically there’s nothing they can do about it because they “can’t control what other people do.” 6) Trash valet has been a recent issue of it not being picked up 7) There are claims the complex is doing things to have a solution to these issues but again there’s no communication of solutions to residents or a timeline. 8) If you enjoy sitting on your balcony or leaving the screen door open be prepared to have cigarette & weed smoke enter into your apartment even though the property is “smoke free” but again I guess the management can’t control what people do so it is what it is.

Madison, we are disappointed to see your time with us has not been more positive. We are disappointed to learn that our service and maintenance efforts in our community have not been up to your standards. We understand that management changes can pose frustrations for residents and we appreciate you giving us your honest feedback about what changes to the property have not been to your liking. Crime has no address and we encourage you to report to the local authorities if you see something suspicious. Our maintenance team works hard to keep our property in the best condition possible and the team members in our office want to provide residents with top-notch service. It's disheartening that our efforts have fallen short in your eyes, and we’d welcome you to come to our office to speak with us so we can address your concerns and help restore your faith in us. Thank you.
Near to nightlife so random gunfire a normal thing around Saturday night 2am. Building has gone through several different managers and staff. Most of the staff try hard but it is a losing battle. Cost me hundreds to move out.

Rest assured that although our team has changed hands, we are proud that our group of professionals has stepped in to pave the way for our manager, Scott, who comes to Met on 7th with several years of experience with Maxus. As your review is anonymous we invite you to reach out to residents@maxusprop.com with any additional details that might help us serve our community better.
Prepare to deal with more middle of the night fire alarms than the average college dorm, at least once a month you’ll be rudely awakened to the piercing sound of the apparently very sensitive fire alarm- nothing like getting to know your neighbors on the sidewalk at 3am-, and if you’re lucky you might get to experience an actual fire where they kick you out for multiple months while leading you on to think that you’ll be back in any week now
