Prospect School was built during the depression (1917-1931) after the original school burned down. Designed by local architects James T. Steen and Sons, you can see the art deco styling in the schools boxy shape, intricate details and asymmetrical patters. In 2005, Prospect School closed and remained vacant until renovations on these apartments began in 2014 by developer a.m. RODRIGUEZ ASSOCIATES inc. Going further back in time, The Mount Washington area blossomed with the construction of the Mon Incline in 1870, which made this area easily accessible. Today, the neighborhood has grown in popularity, boasting two inclines, the Grandview Overlook, and Shiloh Street Shops. These destinations bring people from all over the city, while Mount Washington residents enjoy convenient access to dining, shopping, entertainment, and more!

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Lofts of Mount Washington
This renovated school apartment building is super quiet. Nicely appointed upstairs lounge with outside space overlooks Pittsburgh. Reasonable price for Mt. Washington but there zero amenities meaning gym and pool and regular maintenance. The old school gym looks like it was going to be outfitted, but is not--zero equipment and it is locked. There is a pool leftover from the school but it is not functional. Rent paying and maintenance requests have to be done via check and email (whaaat?). Outdoor space and landscaping is very poorly maintained. Interior maintenance/cleaning is minimal. There is no secured dog park. Sections of building are leaking and crumbling -- inside and out. Best to look elsewhere.
The lofts are well decorated with concrete floors. It use to be a elementary school so the spaces are large and the hallways are not claustrophobic. only drawbacks... Tiny Dishwasher ( Half Size ) It is a new development so they are having issues with the roof and windows leaking. They have fixed some of them but the issues persists during heavy rainstorms. Manager and Maintenance are not always on premises so getting thing fixed can be challenge.
