Set in Providence's
East Side, the residential community of Wayland
gives residents an easy, two-mile commute to the city's downtown area. You can leave your car behind and take one of the several RIPTA bus lines that cross the neighborhood.
Wayland Square is the area's small, lively commercial district, with many apartments for rent found on the surrounding side streets. Residents gather for comfort food at the retro Wayland Square Diner and local seafood at the Salted Slate. Get together with friends for coffee and conversation at Teas and Javas.
If you love the outdoors, walk over to Blackstone
Park, a natural woodland that features hiking trails, bird watching, and fishing. Walk along River Street to catch gorgeous views of the Seekonk River, then stop by the Narragansett Boat Club to sign up for some sailing lessons.
