December is our coldest month and the temperatures average 46 degrees. The wettest month here is February, usually, where we get under 4 inches of rain. The climate is a mix between maritime and Mediterranean. The wettest months are October-April. The dry months are May-September. There are of course extreme days periodically. The highest temperature was 111 degrees in 2010 and that was a day most everyone headed to the beach. The cold day was -45 degrees way back in 1952. The climate here for the most part is fairly mild and very consistent. A great reason to rent an apartment in Orange, CA is the climate. It is not so hot in the summer that you cannot enjoy outdoor activities. It is not so wet and cold in the winter that you cannot enjoy your day.

There plenty of trails for hiking, running and biking and they make it easy to bike to work. For fun outdoors, our favorite place is Irvine Park. Iriving Park offers a ton of things to do. They rent bicycles, paddle boats, and equipment for horseshoes and volleyball. There are pony rides for the kids and you can even rent a horse. The park offers hiking and my personal favorite place to hang is the Orange County Zoo. The birds here are amazing, but what we love about the zoo is that it is not all exotic animals. There is a wonderful selection of native animals that you do not get to see very often. Those include Eagles, Mountain Lions, and bears. There is a petting zoo for the kids and the price of admission is a shockingly low $2.
