Located four miles northeast of downtown Portland,
the friendly, quiet Grant Park
neighborhood, named for the park it contains, features mature landscaping and wide, tree-lined streets. Condo
rentals in multi-level buildings provide much of the housing in this friendly neighborhood. The 29-acre park, truly the social center of this neighborhood, provides amenities such as a playground, sports facilities, an outdoor pool,
2.2 miles of bike lanes, and an off-leash dog park to the community. Grant Park receives high marks for walkability (81 out of 100) and biking (94 out of 100), making it exceptionally convenient for neighborhood residents to walk or bike to the library, supermarket and restaurants.
Well-known and beloved author of children's books, Beverly Cleary, grew up in Grant Park, and the background for many of her stories features Grant Park's Klickitat Street. Contained within the park lies a garden dedicated to Ms. Cleary, featuring sculptures of some of her famous characters such as Ribsy the dog, Ramona, and Henry Huggins.
