The entire area is dotted with lakes, including Lake Fran. This picturesque lake has a 2.8-mile hiking trail through the Lake Fran Urban Wetlands, a nesting area for bald eagles. Yep, right in the heart of the city, you’ll find a swampy area filled with bald eagles. How great is Orlando?
South Kirkman Road stretches along the west side of Westside. This is where you’ll discover a variety of shops, restaurants, and businesses. More businesses line West Colonial Drive to the north. Westside is home to a large Chinatown shopping area, complete with an Asian grocery store that carries rare items like jellyfish and durian fruit. Restaurants in the area include Chef Wang's, Top China, Joyful Garden, and Sapporo Ramen.
The neighborhoods in Westside are tree-filled and sidewalk-lined. The homes are typical Florida homes: single-story, ranch-style, and featuring an abundance of screened porches and carports. Commuting into downtown is very easy from Westside – just hop on the East-West Expressway, which passes through the north end of the neighborhood.
