River Ridge, LA was once home to sugar farms alongside the Mississippi River. The estates were developed by French colonists and were in production up until the early 19th century. Many of the city’s original road mapping still exists today.
Because it’s a smaller community, there are very few neighborhoods, making this city extremely walkable. Residents living here enjoy a short commute to New Orleans, where they can brunch at the French Quarter, explore the exhibits at New Orleans Art Museum, or relax at Jackson Square.
Residents who travel a lot will find comfort in being so close to Louis Armstrong Airport. Like, seriously close – less than five miles, so there’s no excuse to almost miss a flight. Residents can get there by car or Jefferson Transit.
