Founded in 1888 by the United Methodist Church, the University of Puget Sound is the only independent national undergraduate liberal arts college in western Washington. With a selection of academic programs in over 50 fields of study, Puget Sound maintains a strong commitment to teaching excellence, scholarly engagement, and fruitful student-faculty interaction.

Located in Tacoma’s residential North End neighborhood, the UPS campus is accessible to a wide variety of apartments, houses, and condos available for rent in New Tacoma, Hilltop, Stadium District, and Downtown Tacoma in addition to North End. UPS boasts convenience to the Sounder Commuter Rail, Tacoma Link Light Rail, and Seattle Central Link Light Rail as well as Interstates 5 and 705.

Tacoma, known as the City of Destiny, is home to a mixture of low-key cafes, highbrow art museums, and laidback music venues. Outdoor activities are especially prevalent with access to Mount Rainier, rainforests, and the ocean. Downtown Seattle is less than an hour’s drive away as well.
