Area Guide
Delaware Valley University (or “DelVal” as it’s more commonly called) has been a mainstay in Pennsylvania’s academic community since opening its doors in 1896. True to its roots as a farm school, the university operates robust agricultural and environmental programs; other major fields of study include a renowned counseling degree track and a popular business school. The DelVal campus sits just outside the small borough of Doylestown, a charming community less than an hour from both Trenton and Philadelphia. The town center is only two miles from campus, and the Downtown area is packed with great restaurants, bars, and other popular hangouts. For such a small community, the local nightlife scene is surprisingly diverse, with everything from swanky cocktail bars to craft breweries to classic college dives and everything in between, all within a radius of a few blocks. With several residential neighborhoods in the area, you have lots of options when looking for a place to live: there isn’t a major price difference between the rental properties near campus, in the center of town, or out in the quieter areas nearby, so you have some flexibility when choosing the best location to suit your lifestyle. When you want to get out of town, SEPTA service makes it easy to get around the area without the use of a personal vehicle, so you are free to head to the city anytime the urge strikes.
