North Carolina A&T State University was founded in 1891 as a land-grant institution and has built a strong civil rights legacy along the way. The Greensboro Four, who staged the first ever sit-in at a Woolworth lunch counter in 1960, were NC A&T students. The largest historically black college or university in the nation, NC A&T empowers students to solve local and global problems through a wide range of educational opportunities from bachelors to doctoral degrees in both traditional and online environments.
Spread over almost 200 acres in the heart of the Piedmont Triad, NC A&T is convenient to plenty of apartments, condos, and houses available for rent. Aycock, Southside, Fisher Park, and Downtown Greensboro are all optimal locations nearby the NC A&T campus. Access to the I-40 and U.S. 70 make commuting from farther distances simple.
NCAA Division I Aggies, Blue and Gold Marching Machine, Greek life, special events, recreational activities, and more than 120 student organizations contribute to a vibrant campus atmosphere with plenty of excitement. Right between North Carolina’s majestic mountains and coastal beaches, the Piedmont Triad is home to an eclectic mix of industries, entertainment, and other universities.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
