St. Cloud State University - Saint Cloud, MN Area Guide

A distinguished riverside university in the heart of Minnesota

Public Urban Historic Riverside Huskies

Enjoying a reputation as one of the finest public institutions in the Midwest, St. Cloud State University offers a first-rate academic experience from its main campus on the banks of the Mississippi River. Hockey is huge at St. Cloud State, and both the men’s and women’s hockey teams draw big crowds to the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center (named for the legendary hockey coach for Team USA who later coached the Huskies). The campus sits just a couple of blocks south of Downtown Saint Cloud, making it easy to walk to the charming Germain Street for a cup of coffee at Central Perk, a slice of pizza at Waldo’s, or to catch a show at Pioneer Place. The neighborhoods near campus are full of great apartments, houses, and condos within easy walking distance of the major university buildings. Some of the more upscale units can be found near South Side Park and the Brooks Center, while many surprisingly affordable options are available farther north between the campus and Downtown; if you play your cards right, you can sometime find great deals on apartments that overlook the river and offer a short walk to both the university and city center.
