NMU Northern Wildcats Public Comprehensive Dynamic Inclusive Active Nature

Northern Michigan University first opened as Northern Normal State School in 1899. Now, Northern offers high-quality academic programs in a high-tech learning environment with an emphasis on individualized attention. Students and employees at NMU are challenged to think independently and critically, develop lifelong habits, acquire career skills, embrace diversity, and become productive citizens in the regional and global community. Located on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in the city of Marquette, NMU is proximate to plenty of houses, townhomes, and apartments available for rent.
