The University of Louisiana at Monroe - Monroe, LA Area Guide

A cornerstone of North Louisiana’s scholarly community

Public Urban Walkable Warhawks ULM

Since opening its doors in 1931, the University of Louisiana-Monroe has been a major hub for education and culture in northern Louisiana. The institution’s MBA program has risen in the ranks to become one of the top in the region, and on-campus facilities like the Natural History Museum and Biedernharn Recital Hall are among the city’s best attractions. The Warhawks sports teams play in the Sunbelt Conference, and game days at Malone Stadium are always major events for the whole community. Several bridges across Bayou DeSiard connect the ULM campus to the neighborhoods on the east side of the city—this area is where you’ll find the most abundant rental options, with several apartments, condos, and houses within a short walk of the university. Monroe’s historic Downtown is about three miles away, offering up a diverse selection of restaurants, bars, and boutique shops. Right across the Ouachita River, West Monroe has even more popular hangouts. Several nearby golf courses and nature preserves provide excellent opportunities to spend time outdoors. Monroe Regional Airport is just a few blocks away from campus, putting the outside world at your fingertips.
