Indiana University Northwest is a relatively small branch of the IU family serving the Gary area since 1963. Offering courses in dozens of fields of study, the institution primarily serves undergraduates (constituting over 90% of the student body), but offers programs up to master level as well. Academically, IU Northwest is perhaps best known for its nationally-ranked business program.

The IU Northwest campus enjoys a quiet location in the suburbs of Gary, largely surrounded by residential neighborhoods.
