Indiana University Northwest is a relatively small branch of the IU family serving the Gary area since 1963. Offering courses in dozens of fields of study, the institution primarily serves undergraduates (constituting over 90% of the student body), but offers programs up to master level as well. Academically, IU Northwest is perhaps best known for its nationally-ranked business program.
The IU Northwest campus enjoys a quiet location in the suburbs of Gary, largely surrounded by residential neighborhoods. Local rentals tend to be quite affordable, allowing you to live within walking distance of campus without breaking the bank. North Gleason Park sits on the north side of campus, allowing you to enjoy the tranquility of nature during your downtime. South on Broadway, a popular cluster of shops, restaurants, and the Glen Theatre are easily within reach. When you want to get out of town, Chicago is only about 30 miles away, conveniently accessible via Interstate 90.
