North Park University is a small liberal arts college in Chicago’s Park District, on the banks of the North Branch Chicago River. Operating under the purview of the Evangelical Covenant Church, North Park University shares its campus with the denomination’s North Park Theological Seminary. The university preserves its distinctive Swedish heritage with such traditions as the annual Saint Lucy’s Day festival in December.
Located between North Park and Albany Park, the university enjoys a location surrounded by a mix of urban neighborhoods and public greenspaces. Most of the area immediately surrounding the campus is residential, making it easy to live within walking distance of the university (rental rates tend to be rather reasonable nearby). The commercial districts along Lawrence Avenue and Kedzie Avenue are close at hand, giving you easy access to the diverse local shops and restaurants.
The lakefront is only a few minutes to the east, and with the city’s extensive public transportation options, you can easily reach anywhere in the Chicagoland area without a personal vehicle.
As of September 2025, the average apartment rent in Chicago, IL is $1,585 for a studio, $1,952 for one bedroom, $2,479 for two bedrooms, and $3,012 for three bedrooms. Apartment rent in Chicago has increased by 4.3% in the past year.
