Boise State University's beautiful, 175-acre campus stretches along the Boise River, directly across from Zoo Boise. Boise State is a public university established in 1932 and is a top-ranking research university. The urban campus sits directly south of Downtown Boise, and the nearby Boise River Greenbelt provides a safe way to walk or bike-ride around the area. Friendship Bridge, a pedestrian bridge, connects BSU to Julia Davis Park and the zoo across the river. When you first arrive at Albertsons Stadium to cheer on the Broncos football team, don't worry about your eyes -- the turf really is blue! As the only stadium in the world to feature blue Astro Turf, the color can be a little shocking at first, but the sea of blue with pops of orange will quickly become your favorite view. The Broncos participate in NCAA Division I as part of the Mountain West Conference. As you search for a place to proudly display your blue and orange, be aware that the stadium, as well as the Taco Bell Arena (home to the basketball team), is located along South Broadway Avenue. This strip also offers bus stops, several restaurants and taverns, and a smattering of shops and coffee houses. For easy access to the greenbelt -- including parking areas -- look along South 9th Street. Off-campus housing is also available along Boise Avenue and Federal Way, directly south of BSU.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
