Founded in 1890, Savannah State University is the oldest public historically black college or university in Georgia and the oldest institution of higher learning in Savannah. Savannah State fosters engaged learning and personal growth in a student-centered environment which celebrates the African American legacy while nurturing a diverse student body. SSU offers graduate and undergraduate studies including nationally accredited programs in the liberal arts, sciences, and professions.
