Established in 1887, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University is the only public historically black college in Florida. Offering a wide range of challenging academic programs, Florida A&M is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, resolution of complex issues, and the empowerment of citizens and communities. FAMU continues its mission of educating African Americans but embraces people of all races, ethnic origins, and nationalities as lifelong members of the university community.
