Azusa Pacific University - Azusa, CA Area Guide

A historic Christian institution where LA’s urban sprawl meets the mountains

Private Suburban Christian Cougars

Azusa Pacific University has been one of the Los Angeles area’s leading Christian universities for over a century, and boasts one of the largest student bodies of any evangelical institution in the country. The small, scenic main campus (officially known as the East Campus) sits about 25 miles east of Los Angeles at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, home to the university’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Business Management, and School of Music. Just across historic Route 66 from the campus, you’ll find a thriving commercial district filled with popular restaurants and a multiplex a movie theater. A few blocks to the east, a charming stretch of Glendora Avenue is lined with specialty shops and local eateries. Drop into Frisella’s Roastery for the best barbecue in town, and swing over to Crust and Crumble Bakery for dessert. The nearby mountains and forests are perfect for long weekends of exploration and camping, and the urban jungle of Los Angeles is easily within day trip distance.
